1973 MG B GT Transmission: automaticMileage:69908The MGB was launched in May 1962 to replace the MGA. Introduced as a four-cylinder roadster, a coupé with 2+2 seating was added in 1965 with production continuing until October 1980. The MGB GT sported a ground-breaking design by Pininfarina with the launch of its sporty 'hatchback' style. By combining the sloping rear window with the rear deck lid, the GT offered the utility of a hatchback while retaining the style and shape of a coupé. Acceleration of the GT was slightly slower than that of the Roadster due to its increased weight although top speed was improved by 5mph to 105mph due to better aerodynamics.Originally registered on 16th August 1973, this MGB GT has been owned by the vendor since February 2004. Having been used very sparingly of late, the vendor has decided it is time to sell this automatic transmission example. The car is supplied with a V5C registration document, together with a current MoT test certificate valid until 6th December 2023. We are advised the engine starts and runs well, although the best way to describe this MG would be as a rolling restoration. It is not uncommon for owners to use their car during the summer months, garage them in the winter and carry out any necessary work. These ideal entry level classic cars are relatively simple and can be worked on by a competent DIY mechanic. The MG Owners Club are very helpful and a never-ending supply of parts seem to be available for these cars. This MG is offered for sale without reserve.
1961 Lotus Elite (Type 14) Series 2 Transmission: manualMileage:65779The incomparable Colin Chapman re-wrote the rulebook with many of his sports and racing cars. His focus though, was always weight. Combined with body-stylist and friend, Peter Kiran-Taylor in 1956, they developed the Lotus Elite. New in so many ways, but primarily as a lighter-weight car, with much of the stressed chassis as fibreglass (GRP) with just a small amount of the load-bearing structure made of steel to support the famously spirited Coventry Climax engine. The Type II Elite Coupé proved a wonderfully agile driver's car, suitable for high-performance use on both road and track. The Bristol-bodied Elites were lighter and more robust than their Maximar predecessors and the Kiran-Taylor body form, fine-tuned by aerodynamicist Frank Costin, contributed to the car's low claimed drag coefficient of just 0.29.Although production finished for these cars in 1963, this example was registered in 1965 and originally sold to a Mr. J. Cummings. It was the vendor who originally had an Elite in his youth and, despite a break where work and family took over, the hankering for an Elite never lost him. A very competent trained engineer, he eventually found a restoration project which, once purchased, was recovered back to Cornwall and stripped down. The bodywork was not too bad although the front subframe needed work. Indeed, a new one was obtained from Miles and Scott Bader followed by a Polyester powder coating and two coats of filler/primer and four coats of polyurethane acrylic finish applied to the entire car, including the engine bay and dash panel (although some attention would be required to now bring it back to showroom condition). The doors and windows have all been re-hung including all fixings and associated mechanisms. New front and rear screens and rubbers were also re-fitted as well as seals all the way round.Suspension units, front and rear, were also stripped and rebuilt with new bearings and bushes with 14 € wheels replaced with 15 € polished chrome wire wheels with 155x15 Firestone rubber all round. The brakes were completely rebuilt as expected with new callipers, pistons, seals, pads and hoses/pipework fitted to all four corners. After an oil pressure drop-off at 55,000 miles, the engine was stripped back and crank reground to -0.010 € with a new big-end and main shells. New cylinder liners were fitted with new piston rings as well as an adapter plate modified to take a conventional lip seal. A new timing chain has been installed with re-cut cylinder head-valve seats and re-ground inlet and exhaust valves. The front and rear prop shaft universal joints have been re-built alongside a new crown wheel fitted with pinion bearings and half shaft bearings and differential mountings. A new clutch centre plate fitted with master and slave clutch cylinders was renewed in 1998 with a new diaphragm clutch cover fitted in 2002. According to the Elite World Register, based on the gearbox shift lever, it appears to have a MG Magnette gearbox, a not-unusual upgrade back in the 1960's, as are the twin Weber carburettors. The radiator has been flushed, tested and repainted with new hoses, thermostat and clips. A new stainless-steel fuel tank is now fitted with all new stainless steel, armoured/braid PTFE fuel hoses running throughout. A completely new wiring loom is fitted with new solenoid, starter and dynamo brushes all replaced as necessary with all instruments checked. A new battery has been installed, complete with isolating switch. The exhaust system is now a stainless-steel unit with lugs bonded into the body. New silencers are now also fitted with replaced manifold studs. No expense has been spared with the interior as well; all the seats and trim have been re-recovered, a new carpet set fitted, plus new high-specification, four- point seat belts fitted with reinforced mounting points. Underneath the seats, the slide mechanisms have been stripped and re-plated, the dash panel stripped and re-painted and the boot area re-trimmed and carpeted. The car's comprehensive paperwork is extensive and is provided in a huge 64 litre plastic storage box. This includes a file of service parts, a Type 14 handbook, 'Lotus, the early years' by Peter Ross, a workshop manual file, a Lotus Club information file and 1974 register. In addition, many Lotus Club magazines, two folders of Elite clippings and an extensive file relating to this car in particular. Finally, and interestingly, a boxed book entitled 'Lotus Elite, Racing Car for the Road' by Dennis Ortenburger. This is signed by the author on an actual 'chassis plate' inside the flyleaf alongside the actual chassis number, 1558.
1966 MG Midget Transmission: manualMileage:48098The 1966 MG Midget was produced by MG (Morris Garages) between 1961 and 1979. The 1966 model year saw the Midget undergo some notable changes. One of the most significant updates was the introduction of an 1100cc engine, which replaced the previous 948cc engine. The exterior design of the 1966 MG Midget was also refreshed with a new grille, headlights, and taillights. The car had a sleek and sporty appearance, with a low-slung body and chrome bumpers. Inside, the car had a minimalist design, with simple gauges and controls. The cockpit was designed to provide a snug and comfortable driving experience. This pretty MG was originally registered in April 1966 and presents well in Old English White with a contrasting black interior. The vendor has owned the car for the last ten years and tells us it has been a joy to own with its nimble handling, precise steering, and responsive engine. During his tenure the car has been garaged and the file shows several earlier service bills and various MoT test certificates. Offered to auction with a V5C registration document and without reserve, this MG Midget remains a sought-after classic with timeless appeal.
1957 MG A Roadster (1500) Transmission: manualMileage:93030When the MG A arrived in 1955, it must have come as quite a shock to MG aficionados who had become used to the pre-war look of the company's sports cars. The MG A was a complete departure in styling for MG. Its beautiful streamlined body was right up to the minute in terms of appearance and it was powered by a new engine as MG had decided that the old XPAG unit had had its day. The MG A was powered by the much more modern B-Series engine that had made its debut in the recently announced Magnette saloon. MG had gone as far as building a full prototype of the MG A by using TD running gear, the 1250cc XPAG engine, a re-designed chassis, and the MG A bodywork. When it eventually became clear that the TF Midget was a bit of a lame duck and that it would have to be replaced, the new MG sports car was finally given the chance it deserved. The delay in production had one advantage in that it allowed MG to refine the design and install the much newer 1,489cc four-cylinder B-Series engine and its transmission from the Magnette saloon. This example was registered in 1957 and has been in single private ownership for some time. Having been used sparingly in recent years, due to the owner's ill health the MG still presents in good order for its age having been dry stored throughout the vendors ownership. The paintwork shows some age-related blemishes, as to the interior which has a light patina commensurate of the vehicles age. Offered with previous MoT records, sundry bills and invoices, and the current V5C registration document. An original 1500cc Roadster example, this MG comes to the open market with a very attractive estimate, and we expect it will be keenly contested at auction.
2005 MG ZT Estate Transmission: manualMileage:63444In 2001, three years after the launch of the Rover 75, and less than a year after the demerger of MG Rover from BMW, the MG ZT and MG ZT-T were launched. During the cars' development, the models were codenamed X10 and X11, for the saloon and estate versions, respectively. The basic shape and styling of the MG ZT remained the same as for the Rover 75 but with changes to the front bumper, now with an integrated grille, and detail alterations including colour coding of the chromed waistline, a new boot lid plinth, and different alloy wheels and tyres sizes. During the first few months of 2004, MG Rover facelifted the design of the ZT and ZT-T to a less retro look, at the same time as the Rover 75 received a facelift. This didn't feature much in the way of mechanical differences to the ZT, most changes were merely aesthetic. The main changes to the car included the replacement of the twin headlamps, with a new, clear single headlamp unit. Between 2003 and 2006 the top of the ZT range, and the rarest, was rear wheel drive and powered by the Ford 4601cc V8 engine giving 300bhp, 0-60mph in 6.3 seconds and a top speed of 155mph.This rare MG ZT is best described as a 'wolf in sheep's clothing'. A relatively unassuming vehicle from the outside, with the only visible feature being the large bore exhausts. However, start the engine and suddenly you become aware of the Ford Mustang 4.6 litre V8 under the bonnet. This is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox making this a true drivers car and one to really enjoy on the open road. Performance is put at 260bhp and 407NM of torque. The interior is trimmed in black leatherette and cloth seats with electric windows, electric mirrors and digital climate control with air conditioning. Showing just 63,444 miles on the odometer, the previous owner fitted a bespoke (and very expensive) stainless steel exhaust system with sports cats and central silencer box, coupled to an OE back-box, helping unleash a little more sound of the American dream. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until October 2023, together with the original book pack and a collection of invoices. This stylish MG estate is both a capable load carrier and a truly exciting car to drive. These were built in relatively small numbers, it is thought less than 200 were manufactured, thus this could well prove to be a fine investment.Guide £8,000- £11,000

As can be seen from the online photograph, there is a split to the top of the crate running through the text The Queen's Silver Jubilee. The back side of the crate has visible evidence of liquid seepage and mould growth. Otherwise the crate has signs of general wear, scuffs and scratches. This crate has since been opened from the underside for inspection, the findings are as follows:Each magnum was found with its protective cover and wrapped in branded paper, along with a protective layer of straw and a certificate and letter for the two magnums, signed by Paul Krug, describing the lot and its significance regarding the ascension, coronation and silver jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. This letter has been uploaded to our website for viewing. There is evidence of staining to the protective covers of each magnum, and further evidence of staining to the paper wrapping of each magnum. The paper of the 1952 magnum has been more heavily stained than the other. Removing the paper, the 1952 magnum is revealed to be heavily ullaged with fill level to just above the paper label to the bottle. The paper label has some staining to the left-hand side and evidence of seepage and mould to one side of the bottle, the foil wrap is undisturbed. The 1953 magnum has a minor ullage with reverse fill level to approximately 4.3cm from the base of the bottle. Each magnum has been extensively photographed, please enquire for additional images for reference.
