PETER ARCHAMBO I; a fine George II hallmarked silver oval basket with flared pierced sides, cast scallop and scroll decorated rim and tapering foot, with rounded rectangular swing handle centred with a vacant cartouche and with a band of matching decoration, engraved with crested coat of arms to the centre within foliate scroll border, London 1736, scratched '51:12' to base, 31.5 x 26cm, approx 51.2ozt. CONDITION REPORT: Misshapen area along the upper rim of one of the shorter sides where the flare starts (appears to be pushed down), above an area where the side is pushed to the outside and a similar area to the opposing side; surface wear commensurate with age and with traces of wear; shape appears generally intact, no obvious traces of major damage or restoration, apart from an area of approx 4cm long, where the sides are soldered to the inside base, the pierced work has been broken and detached, with minor traces of soldering, and a small crude soldering to the base, visible both to the top and underneath, possibly a manufacturing imperfection; the cast scallop decoration to the rim appears to be slightly out of the longer axis, and some of motifs seem to be more worn, than others; rubbing around the upper rim revealing the seam between the main part of sides and cast decoration.
