A COACHMAN`S OUTFIT AND ACCESSORIEScomprising a scarlet tail coat, the brass buttons initialled `O.T.`, a check waistcoat, a coaching horn, copper and plated by `Kohler & Son, 116 Victoria Street, Westminster` with engraved plaque `L.C. From J.N., March 14, 1883`, length 117cm, in a leather fitted case; together with a book, `Coaching Days of England`, Elek, London 1966. And a scrap book containing photographs, newspaper clippings and ephemera relating to Harry Love, Coach Guard, half leather band. Together with a leather money pouch, with inset time piece, the brass plaque engraved ‘Old Times H Love’ and with a carriage door key and related coaching works, pictures and ephemera. The uniform contained in a white painted case with glazed door Note: formerly the property of Harry Love, the last coachman on the Lord Mayor`s Coach as a guard, and appeared at many of the International Horse Shows. He retired in the 1950s.
A Guernsey painted wooden coat of arms 19th century, on a wooden plaque of lozenge form, the red shield with three applied gold lions passant enclosed by a green wreath with gilt highlighted berries, a sprig of three leaves sitting centrally on top of the shield, 21 x 16in. (53.4 x 40.6cm.). * This plaque is believed to have used originally in the Assembly Halls, St. Peter Port.
A Kundu hand drum Papua New Guinea, late 19th century, typical hour-glass form, carved from single piece of hardwood, lizard skin batter head, incised abstract designs, suspension loop to reverse of handle, original maroon pigments to body with lime infill to waist carving, native inscription, 22in. (56cm.) high. *For the Papuans, the sound of the drum is the voice of their ancestors. The presence of the Kundu in the country`s coat of arms displays its cultural significance.
