A ladies 1970`s heavily beaded evening dress, the sleeveless dress with cross over back straps and beaded in a floral design on a lined crepe in chocolate brown, shading to bright red at the bottom. Together with a black fur and sued ladies jacket and a bolero style rabbit fur jacket with Art Deco bakelite clap, also a black gentleman`s Edwardian morning coat and tail coat. (5)

AN EARLY 19TH-CENTURY NAVY BLUE FROCK COAT AND NAVAL WAISTCOATfrock coat with non-regulation brass buttons, waistcoat with regulation buttons, together with a pair of flecked silk stockings. (3)By family tradition, this ensemble belonged to Capt. Hyde John Clarke and this is supported by a mezzo tint (not included) showing a now-elderly Clark wearing the coat with a pair of epaulettes and the waistcoat. Interestingly, the coat buttons are not defined, whilst the waistcoats are, suggesting that Clarke had either re-fitted his naval coat for civilian use, or improvised with one of a suitable type for the artist. The naval flag from lot 80 is shown proudly hanging behind him.
Four hunting coats, comprising: - A gentleman`s black hunting coat with Southdown Hunt buttons (one replaced.) The inside breast pocket has a tailor`s label for E. Tautz and Sons, 485 Oxford Street, London W. with ink inscription `S. Sassoon 24/9/1910` - A gentleman`s black hunting coat with Southdown Hunt buttons. The inside breast pocket has a tailors label for E. Tautz and Sons, 485 Oxford Street, London W. with ink inscription `S.Sassoon 4/2/1931` - A gentleman`s red hunting coat with brass Southdown Hunt buttons - A gentleman`s red point-to-point jacket with brass Southdown Hunt buttons. The inside pocket has a tailors label for Askew and Company Ld, 42 Conduit Street, London W, with ink inscription `N.W.Loder Esq` Norman Loder was educated, like Sassoon, at New Beacon Prep School in Kent and Cambridge University, and they later became close friends. Loder was Master of the Southdown Hunt 1911-1913. Sassoon dedicated his poem `The Old Huntsman` to Loder. Provenance: Siegfried Sassoon and thence by descent to the present owner `But I couldn`t help wondering, as I was being ushered into one of the fitting compartments, just how many guineas my black hunting coat was going to cost.` Memoirs of a Fox-Hunting Man (Faber and Gwyer 1928) `Resplendent in my new red coat and almost too much admired by Aunt Evelyn and Miriam, I went off to the opening meet …` (Ibid)
Sir Henry Fermor`s Charity School, Crowborough, Sussex, silver cliché badge, mid-18th century, coat of arms of Fermor, 51mm. Good very fine, toned and with 5 minute piercings for attachment. Sir Henry Fermor, Bt (1667-1734), left money in his Will to build a Church and Charity School, for "for the benefit of the `very ignorant and heathenish people" and "in the plainest and cheapest manner, so as it be strong and lasting". Further money was set aside for the land and for books and clothing, etc. The school was limited to 40 boys providing 4 years of education from the age of 7, and they would have worn these badges on their uniform. The school, somewhat changed, still flourishes.

A Georgian engraved oval silver Private Members` Club Ticket, c. 1780`s, pseudo coat of arms with rustic heads and liveried supporters, motto on ribband, UPON MY HONOUR and QUID RIDES [so you may laugh], rev engraved initials, FH, 64 x 54mm. Very fine, pierced. Perhaps connected with the wealthy tobacconist, Lundy Foot, for whom the Irish barrister and orator, John Philpot Curran (1750-1817), suggested the Latin motto QUID RIDES for his coach as it works in both Latin and English - a play on a `quid` of tobacco.
A Victorian electroplated tipstaff- Blackfriars Bridge, unmarked, modelled as a coat of arms above Blackfriar`s bridge, inscribed `Bridge House` and `New Blackfriars Bridge July 1865`, the stem engraved, ` Bridge House Estates Committee , E. Midwinter Esq.`, height 11.8cm. This lot is accompanied with scans from The Times of reports dated 5th and 20th July 1865, giving details of the extensive arrangements and ceremony of the opening of the bridge. Also included is an extract from Thames Bridges from London to Hampton Court, giving the history of Blackfriars Bridge.
Of Mexican interest: A Paris porcelain Tureen and Cover and two shell Dishes en-suite bearing the Mexican coat of arms and the monogram of President José de la Cruz Porfirio Díaz Mori within banded borders enamelled in the colours of the Mexican flag, circa 1867-1881, the tureen of twin handled dished circular form with gently domed cover with knopped handle, the shell dishes of elongated ribbed form with acanthus and and anthemion gilded decoration, the coat of arms decoration within shaped rectangular gilt borders, the monograms with red and foliate gilt, all within gilt rims Provenance: Purchased at a disposal sale of the contents of the Diaz family home by the vendors parents whilst on a trip from their home in San Francesco to Mexico sometime in the the 1920s José de la Cruz Porfirio Díaz Mori (1830 – 1915) was a Mexican war volunteer a French intervention hero, an accomplished general and the President of Mexico continuously from 1876 to 1911, with the exception of a brief term in 1876 when he left Juan N. Méndez as interim president, and a four-year term served by his political ally Manuel Gonzalez from 1880 to 1884. The above pieces can be dated to before 1881 in the early term of Diazs presidency when the design of the coat of arms was altered."
