A Maryport & Carlisle Railway original gold leaf coat of arms transfer on board. On an ornamental shield are Maryport (top left); Carlisle (bottom right); the arms of J.P. Senhouse of Netherall represented by a popinjay (top right); and those of Sir Wilfred Lawson (bottom left). These two gentlemen were the first and fourth of the five Company Chairmen. It was displayed on the green locomotives and green with white upper panels coaches. This device was one of only two (the other being the Central London Railway) that did not incorporate either a name or motto. 13"x151/4", good condition.

First printed in 1897, this was the Company's third device with the central shield quartered with the arms of London, Brighton, Hastings and Portsmouth. It was displayed on the Royal Train; Royal Mail vans; two family saloons; the Director's saloon; and, experimentally, on 4-4-0 locomotive No.60. 24"x20". VGC.
A LOCOMOTIVE HEADBOARD, metal painted with the EIIR Royal coat of arms. These headboards were carried by a number of special trains run in conjunction with the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth in 1952. In fine, ex-loco condition, lettered on the back "Return To D.M.P.S. Kings X No.1" and complete with its back bracket.

This is the first design illustrating a shield with the Union flag as it was before 1801; a liberated slave and a ship reputed to be H.M. brig "MIRO" off-shore; a palm tree; and the scroll "Auspice Britannia Liber" (free under Britain's protection). 18" square, vgc.
A Nidd Valley Light Railway original golf leaf coat-of-arms transfer. Essentially a Bradford Corporation coat-of-arms, it adorned the locomotives of this railway created to build the reservoir at Angram near Pateley Bridge. It opened in 1907 from its own station at Pateley Bridge, where there was a connection to the NER, and was a passenger line for 6 miles to Lofthouse-in-Nidderdale, and a further 7 miles of private railway to Angram. 15" square. Mint.
