AN H & R DANIEL TEA AND COFFEE SERVICE of Old English shape, painted with panels of flowers in landscapes alternating with cobalt ground gilt grapevines in elaborate gilt borders, the service including a teapot, cover and stand, 15cm h, sucrier and cover and cream jug, 4063 (or 4039 on one coffee cup) in gilt or unmarked, c1825 (23) A Daniel shape made for a very short period with pattern numbers in the low 4000s. A cup and saucer of this pattern is illustrated Berthoud (M) and R Maskell, A Directory of British Teapots, Bridgnorth 2006, p263 and Berthoud (M) and L Price, Daniel Patterns on Porcelain, Bridgnorth 1997, p40. The cup and saucer illustrated is allocated pattern 4039 but the authors note that on Daniel porcelains "The number may often be wrongly written...". Inside of teapot stained and with a crack part way round the foot. Teapot stand cracked and riveted, slop basin internal crack in the well. Cream jug internal crack across the base. One saucer cracked, one teacup cracked another with chip on the rim. Apart from these faults in very good condition with some localised rubbing but mostly fine and attractive

A Sèvres style cabaret set, circa 1900, comprising a tray, two cups and saucers, a sucrier and cover and a cream jug decorated with figures/see illustration Condition Report: the tray measures 35cm wide. Condition report: Tray – Some surface scratches, restoration across one end (this does not effect the central vignette) re-gilded and painted over restoration. One raised white bead missing. Slight wear to gilding in one or two areas. Saucers – Both basically good with slight wear to gilding in line with age and usage. Cups – One good, the other heavily restored (including the vignette) Jug – Restored including across a corner of the vignette, surface scratches to centre of vignette. Bowl and cover – Slight wear to rim of cover. The bowl has rubbing to the gilt borders around the vignettes, other wear and losses to gilding and raised white elements.
