AN ENGLISH PORCELAIN OVAL SUCRIER AND COVER AND A SMALL GROUP OF RELATED TEA WARE, C1805-C1810 sucrier and cover 13cm h (9) The pieces in this Lot are not Coalport, but by another unidentified factory and copy Coalport's style very closely. The sucrier knob differs from Thomas Rose's. It has no small plinth; the under edges are quite straight, unlike Thomas's slightly curved ones. The cup shapes differ from Coalport generally in detail, particularly the handle shape. The dish with the same pattern as the sucrier is apparently mis-numbered, perhaps by human error. The 'pink' decoration on the other trio is this mystery factory's pattern 68 (seen elsewhere) but is essentially as Thomas Rose's pattern 63. ++Sucrier repaired; some light wear No Reserve SALOPIAN ART POTTERY
A FINE CAUGHLEY GILT QUEEN'S PATTERN TEA SERVICE, C1785-90 the service including a teapot and cover, 13.5cm h (21) ++In unusually fine condition with slight wear to gilding on teapot handle and knop. A CAUGHLEY GILT REEDED TEA SERVICE, C1785-90 teapot, cover and stand 15cm h (11) ++In very good overall condition, no cracks or chips other than one or two minor chips to flange of the sucrier cover which are not visible when in position and a further small flat chip under the scalloped rim. Slight wear to gilding on teapot stand, no restoration

A RARE CAUGHLEY POLYCHROME SHANKED OVAL SUCRIER AND COVER, CREAM JUG, TEAPOT STAND AND SLOP BASIN, C1795 enamelled with the Salolpian Chain pattern, stand 15.5cm w Provenance: Godden Reference Collection. Exhibited: (sucrier and cover) 1999, No 720; 2015 (label un-numbered). Literature: 1989, p83; 2013, pp 181-2. The sucrier and jug illustrated and discussed in a part service, with a matching shape Chamberlain style teapot illustrated in Caughley Society Newsletter 57, February 2014, p13. These pieces are from a unique Caughley service. Some pieces are of a poor quality body. The Chamberlain style sucrier (and the matching teapot referred to) were possibly modelled for Caughley by Jean Toulouse who was known to be at Caughley c1775-85 and at Chamberlains from 1793. The factory decoration is discussed in 2005, Nos 235-7 and is believed to be known now as Salopian Chain. See lot 89 for another sucrier from the same moulds. ++Some typical wear No Reserve

There were two different moulds for Caughley spiral fluted bowls in 1790s. On the bowl in lot 76 the top of the spiral curves below the vertical, as do the key pieces introduced in 1792 and decorated at Chamberlains. (see the jug in lot 47). On the present bowl, the spirals end vertically, as on the c1795 sucrier and jug in lot 76. The stand is from the same mould as the one in lot 76. ++Basin with minor crack; typical wear No Reserve
