The crest was created for his father, William Allan, who emigrated to what was then Upper Canada in the 1700s.

A Victorian silver christening mug, foliate engraved, London 1883, maker William Hutton & Son. 182.5 grams. Height 10 cm. CONDITION REPORT: This tankard has a significant number of small dents particularly to one side and if you look at the mug from above the rim is rather misshapen and is more oval than circular. The most significant dents are to the front of the mug to either side of the floral engraving below the cartouche area, which is engraved with the initials G W M. The hallmark is legible as is the makers mark.
