Clarke Hutton, British 1898-1984 - Untitled (blue and pink), 1963; watercolour and ink on paper, signed with initials and dated lower right 'C.H. 63', 38.2 x 56.5 cm: together with 2 works on paper by the same artist, 1 of a similar medium, date and size, 1 a print on paper dated 1965 (unframed) (3) Provenance: the Estate of the Artist Note: Clarke Hutton began his career in the art world working as a scene painter and assistant to Carl Wilhelm at the Empire Leicester Square. Following an extended trip to Europe in the late 1920s, he enrolled as a mature student at the Central School of Arts and Crafts under the tutelage of A.S. Hartrick. On Hartrick's retirement three years later, Hutton took over teaching his lithography classes and was appointed head of the department. He was a prolific illustrator of around seventy books, as well as a passionate and accomplished painter. Although reluctant to exhibit, he did hold a few one man exhibitions, and exhibited work at the Royal Academy, Redfern Gallery, Zwemmer Gallery, and Michael Parkin Gallery.

A late Victorian silver rose bowl - William Hutton & Sons Ltd., London 1898, of cupped, pedestal form with repoussé gadrooned, foliate and cartouche decoration, 16 cm diameter, 350g, with bakelite stand.* Condition: The bowl does sit straight and is not wonky. The rim of the bowl is very slightly off-round. There are no signs of repair and the marks are clear. Overall in good condition, with just a very slight, small dent to the cartouche.
