A fine Art Deco silver and guilloche enamel powder compact, Adie Brothers Ltd, Birmingham, 1935, of square form, with a jadeite and marcasite applied jewel mounted to sunburst green enamel panel, the slopping sides divided by silver bamboo effect stringing, opening to reveal mirror to lid and powder puff compartment to base, engine turned back, 2 7/8in (7.3cm.) square, gross weight 3.7 tr.oz. *Condition: flea-bite nibble and hairline to top left enamel sunburst (have to look through magnifier), applied jewel loose, jadeite with corner damage, marcasite trim missing (doesn't detract)

A Bone Telescopic Fan, circa 1850, the double paper leaf a lithograph with gold reserves, the central scene one of relaxation in the outdoors, one gentleman reading to his friends. The verso is quite striking with gold on white, a foliate border enclosing three vignettes. Finished with a cream silk tassel.Guard length closed 6.75 inches or 17cm. Guard length extended 9.75 inches or 25cm; Together with An Unusual Bone 19th/Early 20th Century Folding Fan, the monture lightly incised and set with gold and silver metal dots. The sticks are shaped at the shoulder and the fan folds in half from this point, making it quite compact. The cream gauze leaf is painted with a courting couple, the lady seated outside in a flower arbour, holding an open folding fan. The upper section of the leaf is embroidered with gold sequins and gold and silver spangles. The verso is plain. Guard length 8 inches or 20.5cm . Fan 1 - Clean, the telescopic action works well. Both guards are reinforced with bone in the gorge section, but no cracks or repair line evident? Fan 2 - Quite damaged, but an interesting example of the type. The upper guard is broken, both sections present. The leaf is stained and has several splits to both front and backing fabric.
