A selection of jade jewellery items comprised of a jade cylindrical bead necklace, a carved Buddha pendant, a pair of earrings and matching pendant, three other pairs of earrings and an oval pendant.We are pleased to be offering this lot from the stock of family run firm Shipton and Co., who were based in Hastings White Rock area, and who were unfortunately forced to close their doors in 2014 after a section of the rock face above collapsed onto their shop, making the building unsafe. Jade is a tough, fine grained and durable gemstone that takes a high polish and is particularly suited to carving. It can occur in a variety of colours other than green including white, pink, lilac, black, orange and yellow. Highly prized by many cultures the world over it is the Chinese, Maori and Meso-Americans who hold it in the highest regard and believe amongst other things that it will bring wisdom, protection, strength and health.CONDITION REPORTS & PAYMENT DETAILSIMPORTANT* Descriptions do not include condition reports. An antique Chinese jade mounted mirror. Height 26 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The glass surface to the mirror has a number of surface scratches. The mirror backing is beginning to perish in places and there are +/- 8 areas where this has occurred, the largest +/- 7 mm x 5 mm, smallest +/- 1 mm square. The handle and mirror frame are structurally sound. There are some losses to the hardstone leaves and cat to the rear of the mirror.

VAT)No apparent damage to either, neither have spoon attached to stopper
Three Chinese snuff bottles and stoppers, comprising; a nephrite jade oval bottle, carved with zoomorphic ring lugs, carnelian coloured stopper, 7cm high, a blue and white rouleau shaped bottle, with iron-red highlights, four character mark to the underside, 10cm high, and a moon flask shaped snuff bottle and stopper printed in a famille rose palette with flora and fauna, 10cm high (3) Condition report; Nephrite example has not been tested to confirm it is jade. Stoppers have signs of repair and are possibly associated.

Base; height: 1 in x width: 4 1/2 in x depth: 3 in.Condition: The jade is in generally good condition with no major cracks or losses. When inspected under UV light, there is no visible sign of restoration. Natural lines as expected. There is a loss near the waist. Above the russet inclusion along the back, there are two horizontal cracks that are discolored light brown, measuring approx. 1 1/2 inch each. Along the underside, there is tack adhered; please see the listing image. Light wear to the base; along the top of the base, there is tack residue. To the underside of the base, there is a mark from an old sticker, now removed.
Carved Chinese lavender jade depicting two small figures surrounded by fruits and foliage including pomegranates. Possibly riding a cloud indicating their nature as a spirit or immortal. With a carved wooden stand.Jade; height: 5 in x width: 8 1/4 in x depth: 3 1/4 in. Base; height: 2 in x width: 9 1/2 in x depth: 4 3/4 in.Condition: The jade is in good condition with no major cracks, losses, or chips. Light wear and natural lines throughout; natural lines are most noticeable along the underside. To the left of the jade, there is a minute chip to one of the leaves. Wear along the underside; there are several scattered areas with red and brown accretions. No visible sign of restoration. Wear to the base; along the top, there is adhesive affixed.

Carved from a single piece of jade following its natural shape and with russet inclusions.Height: 3 in x width: 4 1/4 in x depth: 2 1/4 in.Condition: The item is in generally good condition with no major losses or visible chips. Light wear throughout as expected. Towards the underside of the exterior, there is a crack, approximately 5 inches long. There is a loss to one of the leaves near the rim. Natural lines, as expected. No visible sign of restoration when inspected under UV light.
Group of antique Chinese jade items including: One large metal box with a circular jade or hardstone inlay, decorated with a dragon and phoenix along the sides, and with a wooden insert; three metal matchboxes, two with small pieces of jade or hardstone inlay, one lacking the jade; one carved jade or hardstone ashtray.Height ranges from 1 in to 1 1/2 in; width ranges from 2 1/2 in to 4 3/4 in; depth ranges from 1 1/2 in to 3 1/2 in.Condition: The jade is missing from one box. The ashtray has a large chip and crack extending from the chip along the edge. There is another, smaller chip along the edge. Natural lines throughout. To all metal boxes there is heavy wear, scratches, and oxidation throughout. Along the top of the largest box it appears that one of the medallions has been reattached. Along the top of the box missing the jade there is signs of possible water exposure; the area fluoresces under UV light.

Weight: 146 g.Condition: The jade is in fair condition with no visible losses, or major cracks or dents. Along the edges, there are minute chips. Light wear throughout. When inspected under UV light, there is no visible sign of restoration.

One round piece set within an emerald-green corded setting.Jade, height ranges from 1 1/2 in to 3 1/2 in; width ranges from 1 1/4 in to 2 1/4 in.Condition: All pieces are in fairly good condition with no major chips, cracks, or losses. Three pieces have minute chips to them: The man, the dragon, and the mushroom. Light wear throughout all consistent with age and use.
