China, Republic, Nanking Government, Order of the Brilliant Jade, Second Class set of insignia, comprising sash badge, width (measured 10 o’ clock to 2 o’ clock) 77.5mm, with suspension including usual decorated tie (but no five-pointed star), and breast star, width (measured 10 o’ clock to 2 o’ clock) 88mm; both elements in silver-gilt, silver and enamels with carved red centres, reverses bearing two sets of archaic Chinese characters and with impressed serial number ‘12’, also carrying French swan import marks (as used for foreign articles of unknown origin), extremely fine, without sash (2)
A Chinese carved celadon jade twin handled vase, decorated with a stylized band and with pierced handles, 16cm high, on wood stand with wire inlay, in fitted box. Provenance: with 1966 Hong Kong certificate of identity receipt. Condition Report: No visible signs of chips or cracks seen. Box in good order. perported to be 'antique' , however is possibly an early 20th century copy of an earlier style.
A Chinese famille rose bottle vase, late Qing Dynasty, the globular body with wide neck and slightly flared rim, decorated in colours with a scene possibly depicting the Jade Emperor and his seven daughters accompanied by a priest, in a landscape with prominent tree, rocks, clouds and a river, 24.5cm high (rim reduced).
Minerals: A large green nephrite freeform 82cm wide 68kg Tools and amulets made of Nephrite date back to Early Neolithic times. For centuries, jadeite and nephrite were considered the same and were not identified as different until 1863 with a difference in colour and a small variation on the Mohs hardness scale. Nephrite can be found in a translucent white to very light yellow form which is known in China as mutton fat jade, in an opaque white to very light brown or grey which is known as chicken bone jade, as well as in a variety of green colours. It was much prized in Chinese culture and used for utilitarian and ceremonial items. It was revered in other cultures including the Maoris in New Zealand, where it is called greenstone and the native North American Indians of British Columbia, both of whom used Nephrite for tools before the arrival of the Europeans and for ceremonial jewellery and carvings.

Fine quality 19th century Chinese carved and pierced jade lotus-form libation cup, the cup encircled by meandering prunus branches and cranes in flight, 19cm wide, raised on finely carved hardwood stand, modelled as a tree stump with prunus branches (2)Provenance: Collection of Captain George Fenwick-Owen, soldier, extensive traveller, collector and big game hunter. In 1911 he enlisted the services of Harold Frank Wallace to accompany him on a British Museum exhibition to China to find Takin and small mammals, an episode detailed in Wallace's book - The big game of Central and Western China. Fenwick-Owen was immortalized with a species of Gansu mole named after him. CONDITION REPORT Significant damage to pierced bandwork around bowl, various fragments are detached but present. It is unclear extent of losses or whether the detailed pieces will complete the piece. Finely carved stand is in good condition
A 19th century Chinese blue and white scent bottle decorated with a continuous scene of figures in a landscape with green hardstone stopper and character marks to base and two Chinese pierced and carved nuts decorated with a fish and a crab. CONDITION REPORT: There are some tiny chips to the rim, a split to the jade cover, cork has perished, also a small chip to foot rim, and general pitting.
A Chinese jade and yellow metal mounted cylindrical bar brooch, length 5cm, a pierced jade brooch in filigree frame, length 4.5cm (return clasp missing) and a jade and seed pearl pendant supported on a yellow metal chain (clasp af) (3). CONDITION REPORT: Both pins are bent, general surface wear.
