A CHINESE JADE DING AND A JADE GU MING AND QING DYNASTIES The ding with tall angled handles, key fret and taotie mask motifs to the body, raised on tall cylindrical legs, the gu with a rectangular-section body with flanges, taotie masks, lappets and key fret, each with a wood stand, 21cm. A CHINESE INLAID LACQUER PANEL LATE QING/REPUBLIC PERIOD Set with jade, wood, ivory, coral and various hardstones, and decorated with the two Immortals Zhang Guo Lao and Cao Guo Jiu, in a landscape beneath a flying phoenix and a four character inscription which reads ling feng cheng xiang, 133.3cm x 63.3cm. Provenance: the Benveniste collection, Montreal, purchased in the 1960s and '70s.
A CHINESE ARCHAISTIC GREY JADE AO PENDANT MING DYNASTY With the horned head of a dragon, his legs held close to the body, the shell of a tortoise and with a long trifurcated tail curling onto its back, 5cm. Provenance: from the collection of Surgeon Lieutenant George Giri, b.1923, purchased in Hong Kong 1962-65. Cf. 3rd millennium BC. A nephrite jade pi ceremonial flat-section ring. See Rawson, J. Chinese Jade: From the Neolithic to the Qing, London, 1995. 94 grams, 73mm (3"). Property of a Salisbury, Wiltshire, UK collector; formerly in a Swiss collection; acquired Hong Kong in the 1980s. The exact purpose of these carefully made jade rings has never been established. They occur singly in wealthy burials, from the period of the Hongshan culture, about 3800 BC, where they are usually placed prominently on the stomach or chest. [No Reserve] Fine condition.

A GOOD EARLY 20TH CENTURY CHINESE SILVER & JADE OVAL BOX BY LUENWO OF SHANGHAI, the fruit form jade cover carved in relief with leafage and a butterfly, the silver box with two confronting dragon in relief divided by an engraved monogram cartouche, the base with an impressed character mark and 'LUENWO', 6.2in wide x 4.25in x 3.4in high.
A Chinese pale orange agate snuff bottle of flat ovoid form decorated with formation of auspicious character marks to each side and with mask and ring handles, with pale green jade stopper and ivory spatula, height 8cm.Purchased at Sotheby's Chester in 1981.
