A late 19th/early 20th century Chinese jade and specimen hardstone panelWorked with figures amongst a rocky landscape, mounted in a pierced carved wooden frame with brass suspension loop. 16.5 x 21.5 cm. CONDITION REPORTS: Generally in good condition, some minor decoration wear/loss, general wear.
A matched pair of Chinese porcelain blue and white saucers, probably Kangxi period (1662-1722), with single character 'Jade' or 'Beautiful' marks, both painted with a woman and boy playing with a butterfly in a garden, within a diaper and foliate border, the smaller 5in. (12.7cm.) diameter; together with a small 18th century Chinese floral moulded saucer with blue and white floral decoration and gilt clobbering, floral mark to base, 4½in. (11.5cm.) diameter; and a later stencil decorated Chinese saucer. (4)* Condition: - Matched pair dishes: One with feint hairline to centre, small rim chip and several smaller frits to rim. The other with two small frits to rim.- Small saucer: Good with no damage. Some gilt wear. - Stencilled saucer: Very good, no faults.
A Chinese blue and white porcelain saucer dish, Kangxi period (1662-1722), with single character mark to base reading 'Jade' or 'Beautiful', decorated in the Ming style with a central medallion of flowerheads amidst scrolling foliage, below a conforming border to the rim, 6 7/8in. (17.5cm.) diameter, small rim chip.* Condition: Small chip to rim. No other faults or damage.
A CHINESE PALE CELADON JADE CUP AND COVER LATE QING DYNASTY The body finely incised with cartouches containing flowers and foliage, the handles and knop carved as scaly dragons, the base with a four character Qianlong mark, all raised on a wood stand, 11cm. (3) Provenance: a Hong Kong private collection, sold in these rooms on 21st May 2008, lot 338.
A CHINESE CELADON JADE ARCHAISTIC INCENSE BURNER 18TH/19TH CENTURY The compressed circular body with two dragon-head handles carved with taotie masks and studs, the stone with minor white and russet inclusions, all raised on three short feet, 16cm. Provenance: a Hong Kong private collection, acquired by an American diplomat during the late 19th century, exhibited at the East Coast Institution with a loan no.212-43-2 to the underside, later purchased from Freeman's Philadelphia, 16th September 2008, lot 49.
A CHINESE MOTTLED GREY JADE BATON QING DYNASTY OR LATER The cylindrical body finely incised with a scaly dragon chasing a flaming pearl of wisdom amidst scrolling clouds, the carving picked out in gilt, with two plain green jade ends, 21.7cm. Provenance: a Hong Kong private collection, purchased from Dreweatt Neate on 7th May 2008, lot 569.
A PAIR OF CHINESE PALE CELADON JADE AND HARDWOOD TABLE SCREENS QING DYNASTY Each carved with figures of Immortals in mountainous landscapes with pavilions and pine trees, the reverse sides with imperial poems within key fret borders picked out with gilt, all mounted in reticulated hardwood frames, 37.5cm. (4) Provenance: a Hong Kong private collection, purchased from Freeman's Philadelphia, 16th September 2008, lot 70.
A CHINESE WHITE JADE CARVING PROBABLY LATE QING DYNASTY Finely carved as two fish amidst swirling waves entwined with aquatic plants and a frog perched on a leaf by a blossoming lotus flower, the stone with minor russet inclusions, all raised on a wood stand, 14cm. (2) Provenance: a Hong Kong private collection, sold in these rooms on 21st May 2008, lot 319.
FOUR CHINESE ARCHER'S RINGS QING DYNASTY One of coconut shell, carved with panels with characters and precious objects, one of russet jade with archaistic scrolls in shallow relief, one in white glass and one in agate, together with a fruit stone carving of a man and a boy riding a buffalo, 5cm. (5) Provenance: from the collection of Sir Richard Chenevix Trench.
