Unbound but sewn to bands, the first blank is separated and the final gathering is nearly detached, there are stains, ink perhaps, penetrating the page, at the bottom of leaves e4, f4, f(8), i4, i(6), k2-k(9), m3, n2,n3, o1, o(6)-o(8), o(10),p1,p2. There is a separate blot on the text of leaf and a spot on the lower margin of F1 verso. There is also some, generally faint, water staining evident in the pages of the Tabula and Register, it has not affected the text or the written notes. There is a single narrow wormhole present in the lower margins of folios A(10) to D5, well clear of the printed areas. The final leaf has a fragment torn from the upper corner possibly as the result of an attempted repair and the margin is discoloured. There are manuscript notations in margin of the tabula. There is a solitary attempt at a pen and ink decorative capital on leaf b2. Page edges dyed light red. Overall a crisp copy. The Sententiae - Sentences of Peter Lombard was the standard theological reference work of its time. And Sentences were the considered judgments and opinions of experts on questions of faith and dogma, which Lombard had collected and classified in four parts – the fourth dealing with the sacraments. The individual topics - in each part were called and numbered as so many distinctions. This work was Aquinas` thesis for his master`s degree in theology, a discussion and evaluation of earlier opinions. Colton, Joseph Hutchins 1855 Territories of New Mexico and Utah The uncommon "First State" of this iconic map of the American Southwest, is distinguished by the lack of Colton’s name in the title or beneath the title. It depicts the new territories of Utah and New Mexico, which were created in 1854. Utah Territory encompasses all of today`s Nevada and extends west to the Continental Divide into present-day Colorado with Fillmore City as it`s capital. Nebraska and "Kanzas" territories bound Utah on the east. New Mexico Territory includes part of southern Colorado and stretches west to include Arizona and the southern tip of present-day Nevada. The map was compiled from information garnered by John Charles Fremont in the 1840s, Howard Stansbury in 1850 and the Pacific Railroad surveys of 1853-54. Fremont`s routes, proposed routes for the Pacific Railroad, the Cimarron Trail, the Oregon Route of 1843, the Spanish Trail and several other wagon roads are all traced. Wheat found this interesting map important enough to use as the frontispiece to Volume 4 of his "Mapping the Transmississippi West". It is one of the rarest and most desirable of all Colton atlas maps, dated and published in 1855. 15.4" W x 12.6" H Toned with faint damp stain at upper right. A short edge tear was repaired with archival tape, well away from the map.

U.S. Corps of Engineers, 1890-91 [Lot of 4] Map of the City of Washington Showing the Variety of Street Pavements… [and] …for the Use of the Engineer Department… [and] …Showing the Location of Sewers… [and] …Showing the System of Water Supply and Distribution… This set of thematic maps was published to show the large-scale improvements in the infrastructure of the city. They were prepared by Capt. W.T. Rossell of the Army`s Corps of Engineers to accompany the annual report of the Commissioners, District of Columbia. Each map carries the title "Map of the City of Washington..." and is drawn on an identical scale, showing the street pattern of Washington in great detail. Each has a specialized focus, with the titles continuing: 1) "Showing the Varieties of Street Pavements;" 2) "For Use of the Engineer Department District of Columbia;" 3) "Showing the Location of Sewers;" and 4) "Showing the System of Water Supply and Distribution." Each is colored to match its thematic legend. The first map is particularly handsome as it uses seven colors to indicate types of road surface. An important set of four matched maps that provide a remarkable look into the capital`s infrastructure in the early 1890`s. 27.5" W x 28" H Issued folding with light toning along a few folds and a few short splits at fold intersections.

United States”, by Daniel Burgess and Co., dated 1853, hand color (9.0 x 10.4”). A very nice map of the West that displays early territorial boundaries. The large Utah Territory extends from California to the Continental Divide and locates the capital at Fillmore City, and the “Great Salt Lake City”. Each state/territory is labeled with their population: Utah 11,000, New Mexico 62,000, Oregon 13,000, and California 264,000. Numerous Indian tribes and military forts are identified. Tomo II". México. Grupo Financiero Bancomer, 1996. Pág. 70. 48 x 66 cm
