Army & Navy, An 18ct gold minute repeating half-hunter chronograph pocket watch, the white enamel dial with black Roman numerals, subsidiary dials for sixty seconds and sixty hours a sweep centre seconds hand with stop and reset button in the band and numbered ‘9208’, with blued steel spade hands, the movement with split bi-metallic free-sprung compensating balance with an over-coil hairspring to the lever escapement, the repeat mechanism with two gongs, activated by a slide in the band, with the three-quarter backplate engraved ‘Army & Navy Co-Operative Society Ltd, 9208, 105, Victoria St, London, SW’, in a half-hunter case with swivel-bow blue enamel chapter ring with Roman numerals and monogram, hallmarks for London 1905 and with repeat serial number and initials ‘F.T’ for the case maker Fred Thoms, 55mm diameter. * Fred Thoms, is considered one of the finest case maker’s of his generation. He developed the ‘swivel’ bow as an anti-theft device as seen on this example.

Two Second World War RAF Pilots Flying Log Books to Flt. Lt. D. Tasker, 37 Squadron, covering the periods, Feb 14th 1941 to June 27th 1952, mostly flying Wellington Bombers in the Mediterranean (Crete and Malta) and North Africa Dairy entries July 1942, "July 1st Operations on Rommel`s advanced columns`, 8th July to 16th July, "Operations on Tobruk`;. together with a related personal photographic album, titled R.A.F. 1941-1942 including black and white images of Giza, the Nile, Cairo and crashed aircraft. No. 37 Squadron was reformed in 1937 as a heavy bomber squadron equipped with the Harrow bomber. It received more modern aircraft, in the shape of the Vickers Wellington, in May 1939. The squadron went into action just seven hours after the British ultimatum to Germany expired, flying a sweep over Heligoland Bight, heavy losses soon forced Bomber Command to abandon this sort of daylight raid, and the squadron became a night bomber unit In November 1940 the squadron was transferred to Egypt, via Malta, from where it carried out a number of sorties, the squadron took part in the campaign in the western desert, supporting the Eighth Army against Rommel and his Afrika Korps. A large German walnut and parcel ebonised eight-day regulator wall timepiece Lenzkirch, circa 1869 . The four pillar single train weight-driven movement with jewelled and capped arbors to the top three wheels of the train and pallet arbor, five-spoke wheel crossings, high pinion count, Harrison’s maintaining power, jewelled pallets, adjustable beat screw and substantial bi-metallic compensating pendulum with a fine regulating nut to the large brass bob, The backplate is stamped with LENZKIRCH above ‘one million’ trademark and numbered 431913, giving a production date of 1869, the 9 inch circular two-piece white enamel Roman numeral dial with blued steel moon hands and a sweep seconds hand, in a shaped arch-glazed front case with keystone centred break-arch pediment above scroll applied canted angles and inverted stepped ogee moulded base, 181cm high. The Lenzkirch clock factory was founded in 1849 by clockmaker Eduard Hauser and organ maker Ignaz Schpperle who decided to make clock movements and parts of the highest quality using line production in order supply individual clockmakers for finishing and casing. Within a few years the factory was producing complete clocks, however towards the end of the century the factory went into decline due to failure in keeping up with new production techniques. This resulted in the firm being sold to the Junghans brothers who continued it as an off-shoot until its final closure in 1932. The current lot demonstrates the fact that the firm were able to produce clocks of the finest quality.
A George III mahogany crossbanded oak eight-day longcase clock with moonphase. Thomas Richardson, Weaverham, late 18th century. The four-pillar rack and bell striking movement with 13 inch brass break-arch dial with subsidiary seconds dial, shaped signature cartouche Tho’s Richardson, WEVERHAM and sweep calendar to the foliate scroll engraved centre, within an applied Roman numeral chapter ring with Arabic five minutes and scroll cast spandrels to angles, the arch with rolling moonphase inscribed HE APPOINTED THE MOON FOR CERTAIN REASONS to upper margin, the swan neck pedimented case with reeded columns to hood above crossbanded shaped-top door flanked by conforming quarter columns to trunk, on raised panel-fronted plinth base with canted angles, 219cm high. Thomas Richardson is recorded in Baillie G.H. Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World as working in Weaverham circa 1795.

The four-pillar rack and bell striking movement with 14 inch brass break-arch dial with sweep calendar hand, applied silvered signature plaque W’m Parr, LIVERPOOL and subsidiary seconds dial to the foliate-scroll engraved hatched centre, within an applied silvered Roman numeral chapter ring with Arabic five minutes and calendar to inner track, the angles applied with scroll-cast spandrels beneath rolling moonphase to arch inscribed TIME SHEWS THE WAY TO LIFES DECAY to upper edge, now in a case with swan neck pediment and reeded columns to hood above parquetry banded throat panel and conch-shell centred short shaped-top door flanked by reeded quarter columns to trunk, on a raised-panel fronted plinth base with canted angles and bracket feet, 225cm high.

The substantial five-pillar triple train movement chiming the quarters on a nest of six bells and striking the hour on a further bell, the 13 inch brass break-arch dial with sweep calendar hand and flush-fitting silvered subsidiary seconds dial to the finely engraved ho-ho bird inhabited rococo scroll decorated matted ground within an applied silvered Roman numeral chapter ring with sweep calendar to inner track, Arabic five minutes and signed Sadler, Norwich to lower edge, the angles applied with cherub-head and foliate cast spandrels beneath rolling moonphase to arch, the case with foliate-capped verre eglomise fronted pagoda upstand and swan neck pediment above reeded columns to hood above swollen frieze to throat and shaped-top double book-matched flame figured mahogany veneered door flanked by quarter columns to trunk, on a shaped raised-panel fronted plinth base with ogee bracket feet 251cm high. A Heuer professional 200 metres, gents stainless steel cased automatic wristwatch. Black dial with sweep centre seconds, date aperture, with luminous hands and hour markers. The black bezel with engraved numerals. Numbered to the rear of the case 844 4013, fitted with a rubber strap.
