L39981 which relates to the service receipt provided and undertaken in 1966, original double riveted expanding Oyster bracelet dated '4/62', case, dial and movement signed, bezel diameter 40mm (bracelet at fault) This watch was purchased in 1963 and has been passed by descent from the vendor's father, a former RAF Officer. Complete with the Rolex box, guarantee service booklet dated '29-1-63', Rolex service repair receipts dated 1966, all addressed to the original purchaser, two vintage Rolex brochures and 1966 price list, two family photographs depicting the vendor wearing the watch; also a small box sent from Rolex post date marked '5-III-63' These rare Submariners with Explorer dials were believed to be produced in very small numbers during the late 1950s and early 1960s. A similar watch with this style of dial was sold at Bonhams, London on the 15th December 2010, ex lot 434., where it was stated that at that time only two models were known to collectors with this rare style of dial printing

Batty and Sons, Manchester, and having white enamel face with Roman numerals and sweep second hand, the outer front dust cover engraved with initials. Hallmarked for London, 1899, presentation inscription dated: 1900. Later box. CONDITION REPORT: Minor dinks and scratches/surface wear with age to case. No obvious damage to dial. Not currently ticking. The diameter is 5.5cm approximately. The weight is approximately 159g.
