Quartermain, Aylesbury, an oak longcase clock: the eight-day duration movement striking the hours on a bell, the twelve-inch painted break-arch dial having black Roman numerals, raised rococo giltwork decoration to the four corners and arch, a subsidiary seconds dial, decorative blued steel hands, a brass sweep date hand to the centre and signed within the arch Quartermain, Aylsbury, the oak case having a shallow pediment top with three brass ball-and -spire finials, with the fluted hood columns having giltwood capitals, with a break-arch door to the trunk and plain base, height 229cms (inc. finial) * Biography Joseph Quartermain is recorded as working as both a watch and clockmaker in Aylesbury from circa 1781 until at least 1804 with W. Quartermain working from circa 1791.

A rare German Hanhart nickel cased pilots watch with black dial, sweep seconds subsidiary dials for seconds and minutes. The movement and nickel case numbered 119585, fluted bezel. (See illustration) Condition Report: Not working, case is not in great condition, commensurate with age. Overall diameter of watch is 3.95cm.

In plain polished case, hallmarked London, 1890, case 55mm wide together with a fine two coloured 9ct gold watch chain, 38.5cm, an 18ct gold fob medallion relating to Hendon Golf Club 1914, 25mm diameter and an 18ct gold bloodstone and cornelian set swivel fob In good working order but centresweep seconds does not zero to 12 o'clock , surface scratches to case
A previously unrecorded creamware satirical jug late 18th century, printed and hand-coloured with a bawdy scene of figures including a priest, a chimney sweep, a barber and an old woman with her behind exposed, titled 'The Devil of a Job - Satan at the bottom of all Mischief', the rim painted with shaped green panels simulating shagreen, and simple floral sprays, restored, 17.2cm. It has sadly not been possible to find the source of this rather risqué print, nor any other pieces bearing the same subject.
