Unter dem Zifferblatt in halbrundem Fenster Anzeige für die Mondphase. Stunden- und Minutenzeiger mit Sternmotiven. Werk mit Graham-Ankergang und Viertelstundenschlag auf zwei Glocken. Zugrepetition. Wecker auf Glocke.35,5 × 15,5 × 90 cm.Etwas zu revidieren. Die untere Scheibe in Plexiglas.Das Werk und Zifferblatt dieser äusserst interessanten und seltenen Neuenburger Pendule wirken im Vergleich zum restlichen Gehäuse etwas überdimensioniert. Eigentlich würde man bei einem solch aufwändigen Werk ein etwas repräsentativeres und grösseres Gehäuse erwarten. Soweit ersichtlich, scheinen in diesem Fall jedoch Werk und Gehäuse aus derselben Epoche zu stammen und miteinander entstanden zu sein. Entsprechend komplexe Pendulen aus Neuenburg sind recht selten. Ein vergleichbares Exemplar mit Tag, Datum, Monat und Sternzeichen aus der Zeit findet sich bei Alfred Chapuis, Pendules Neuchateloises, Neuenburg, S. 66, Abb. 61. Wie die hier angebotene Uhr ist auch jene nicht signiert. Die Wandungen des quadratischen Gehäuses reliefiert mit Jagddarstellungen, wohl Kaiser Karl V mit höfischer Jagdgruppe, die Ecken mit Dreiviertelsäulen und korinthischen Kapitellen akzentuiert, im unteren Bereich mit Akanthusblatt verziert und in Tatzenfüssen endend. Durchbrochen gearbeiteter, vergoldeter Boden mit Ätzdekor. Vergoldetes Zifferblatt graviert mit Ranken sowie zwei Zifferringen mit arabischen und römischen Zahlen. Zentrale Weckerscheibe. Eisenzeiger. Kompaktes Werk mit Spindelgang und Stundenschlag auf Glocke. Das Weckerwerk in der Glocke platziert.12 × 12 × 7 cm.Reparatur an der Hammerfeder. Feder des Schlagwerks fehlt. Federbremse entfernt. Die Eckzierden am Zifferblatt fehlen. Vergoldung berieben.Diese Tischuhr besticht durch den ausserordentlich schönen, gegossenen, gravierten und vergoldeten Dekor der Wandungen, die umlaufend eine wohl königliche Hirschjagd darstellen, vermutlich nach einer Stichvorlage. Über den Jagddarstellungen sind in Kartuschen kleine Köpfe von Raubkatzen bzw. eines Königs dargestellt. Die nach unten leicht ausschwingenden Ecksäulen mit Akanthusblatt, die in Tatzenfüsse übergehen, verleihen der Uhr eine gewisse Eleganz. Die schöne Ausführung dieser Arbeit und die Qualität der Feuervergoldung deuten auf die Herkunft aus einem der grossen Zentren für die damalige Gold- und Silberschmiedkunst wie Nürnberg oder Augsburg. Kuppelförmiger Glockenstuhl mit durchbrochener Balustrade, bekrönt von Baluster. Die Ecken ebenso mit Balustern besetzt. Allseitig graviert und punziert mit Blumen, Ranken und Voluten sowie Schuppen. Front mit versilbertem und teils emailliertem Zifferblatt, römische Stundenzahlen I - XII und arabische 13 - 24. Weckerscheibe. Die Rückseite mit teils emailliertem Zifferblatt, Dekor von Blattranken und Paradiesvogel, für die Einstellung des Schlagwerks. Eisenwerk in Pfeilerbauweise, Spindelgang auf Radunruh. Halbstundenschlagwerk auf Glocke. Kleines Weckerwerk auf Glocke. Aufzug über Schneckenrad, das Gehwerk mit Kette, das Schlagwerk mit Saite. In der Kuppel spätere Vorrichtungen zur Arretierung von Schlagwerk und Wecker.16 x 16 x 32 cm.Eventuell zwischenzeitlich umgebaut auf Vorderpendel.Neben dem schönen Gehäuse mit dem getriebenem, gravierten und punzierten, für die Zeit um 1620 charakteristischen Dekor weist diese Uhr auch ein sehr fein gearbeitetes Werk auf, mit quadratischen Ständern, die Platine des Weckerwerks geschnitten mit Blätterdekor. Die Qualität der Arbeit weist auf einen Ursprung in Augsburg hin. Eine Türmchenuhr mit sehr ähnlichem Dekor, aber mit unterschiedlichem Glockenstuhl, das ebenfalls als Augsburger Arbeit bezeichnet und um 1620 datiert wird, ist abgebildet bei: Karl-Ernst Becker und Hatto Küffner, Battenberg Antiquitäten-Kataloge, Uhren, München 1978, S. 73, Nr. 19. Gewichtsantrieb.16 × 16 × 41 cm.Antriebsgewichte sowie Gewichte der Waagunruh fehlen. Zu revidieren.Bis gegen Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts wurden in Japan die Tage nicht in 24 gleich lange Stunden eingeteilt, sondern der Tag und die Nacht in je sechs „Toki“. Wie die Tage im Sommer länger sind als die Nächte, so waren die Tages-Toki im Sommer länger als die Nacht-Toki. Im Winter war es umgekehrt.Zur Messung dieser unterschiedlich langen Tages- und Nachtstunden gab es zwei Systeme: Beim einen wechselte das Werk automatisch alle sechs Toki zwischen den beiden Balkenwaagen, bei denen über die unterschiedliche Positionierung von Gewichten die Geschwindigkeit reguliert werden konnte. Dieses System findet sich häufig bei den Laternenuhren (Wadokei). Beim anderen System, häufig bei den Makura Dokei verwendet, konnte die Toki-Positionierung auf dem Zifferblatt angepasst werden. Black chapter ring, featuring the hours and the signs of the zodiac. Rotating disc with hands in the center. Double- verge movement with two balance wheels. Striking mechanism, striking the 1/2-hour on bell. Alarm movement, on bell. Weight-driven.16 × 16 × 41 cm.Clock driving weights and balance-wheel weights, missing. Requires revision.Until the end of the 19th century, days in Japan were not divided into 24 hours of equal length, but day and night were divided into six "toki" each. Since the days in summer are longer than the nights, the day toki in the summer were longer than the night toki. In the winter, it was the other way around.There were two systems for measuring these different lengths of day and night: In one, the movement automatically switched between the two beam scales every six toki, and the speed could be regulated by positioning weights differently. This system is often found in lantern clocks (wadokei). In the other system, often used in makura dokei, the toki positioning could be adjusted on the dial.

Three clocks comprising of a stepped Oak cased Art Deco mantel clock by the Norland Clock Company Ltd, with pendulum and key, An A.J Dunn & Co (Dover) wooden mantel clock presented to Evelyn Ratcliffe on her marriage on 23rd August 1941 and a 'Regent of London' alarm clock. Please note that the face paint has started to crack on the A J Dunn clock.
