The Bear and the Hare: John Lewis Christmas Advert. (2013) Fiona Stewart (British, b. 1980 - ). Two Original painted backdrops on board, one of a series of backdrops painted by the scenic artist for the advertising campaign released by British department store chain, John Lewis & Partners, each board 61. 5 x 81cm; together with an illustrated COA Signed and dated by the artist 6/09/21. (3) The commercial was set to a cover of Keanes Somewhere Only We Know by Lily Allen, and featured an array of woodland animals and told the story of a hare who gifted her bear friend an alarm clock so he would wake up from hibernation in time for Christmas. Fiona Stewart studied at Edinburgh College of Art and the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School before embarking on a professional career as a theatre designer and scenic artist. She has painted scenery for major stop motion animation features including Wes Andersons Isle of Dogs, Fantastic Mr Fox as well as Tim Burtons Frankenweenie.
