A Cased Set of Dress Studs, comprising a pair of chain linked cufflinks, four buttons and two collar studs, of central oblong or square onyx panels, a split pearl inset centrally, within a white geometric engraved border, cased by Asprey, 166 Bond St, London, and A Cased Set of Six Buttons, the disks of purple enamel The pieces are in good condition. The purple buttons are missing a bar/tie clip from the case. The pieces in the Asprey case are stamped `9CT & 18CT`, and in our opinion would test as gold. The other set bear no marks, and in our opinion are gilt metal. Weight of the studs, buttons and cufflinks in the Asprey box 10.0 grams. CR made 9th October 2013
A 19th Century salt glazed flagon as "Souter Johnny", 25 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Slightly dirty. To the handle there is a firing fault approx 1cm long. Base of handle has several firing cracks. A noticeable join line to hat. A 0.5cm long line / firing fault near spout. Face has several firing cracks, including through eye, under eyes, around chin, and some pitting / kiln deposits. Bow tie has firing cracks. A crack to hairline to the bottom side of the collar at front, and a chip on the other side at base of collar. Various other firing cracks. A hairline crack to glaze from under spout right down one side and towards middle of base where the original join was and has now become a deeper crack, and similarly to other side but not as obvious, where join has become more cracked over the years. A brown spot of discolouration near crack to collar. Base has wear conducive with age and use.

ROD: Pezon et Michel Sawyer Nymph Rod, 8`10" 2 piece split cane with detachable handle, line rate 4, in glass fronted case 48"x 5"x 9", glass cased for wall mounting with examples of pheasant tail, grey goose feathers and an original and unused card of Chadwick`s 477 wool, all items used to tie Sawyer`s famous fly patterns.
BOOK, LETTER & FLIES: Hale, Capt. – "How To Tie Salmon Flies" 1st ed 1892, red cloth binding, gilt text, generally clean, 123 hand cut pages plus adverts, plus a series of salmon & trout flies tied by the vendor, ranging from size 14 trout up to a size 9/0 gut eyed example, handwritten names to card, a double sided penned letter from Arthur Hawley (who provided the materials in the previous lot to Commander Casement), the letter dated 1950 discussing fly tying materials, tools and techniques and general fly tying discussions.
