Greek Gold Ring with Marriage-Knot or Knot of Hercules 5th-3rd century AD. A three-band hoop with beaded borders, formed into a marriage-knot or Knot of Hercules with granule and beaded wire detailing. 4.61 grams, 22mm overall, 19.97mm internal diameter (approximate size British U, USA 10, Europe 22.52, Japan 21) (1"). Property of a Surrey collector; acquired in the early 1970s. The Knot of Hercules, also known as a reef knot, is at least 4,000 to 9,000 years old. This knot is used to tie the two ends of a single line together, and is thus the perfect symbol of the tying together of two lives into one. Its appearance in a ring of this age indicates that it has been a symbol of marriage union since antiquity. Very fine condition.

One of Fratini's most notable designs was for Elizabeth Taylor who wore a Fratini wedding dress for her second wedding to Richard Burton.

Clark's favourite model Gala Mitchell was photographed wearing this dress for a model shoot in the late 60s.

Founded by Julius Garfinckle, the store was most controversially known for it's stance against Civil Rights during the 1950s-1960s which many believed was the reason for it's downfall in the latter half of the 20th Century.
