METAMORPHIC RING. An Art Deco ruby, sapphire & diamond metamorphic ring set a continuous band of calibre-cut rubies & sapphires, with two hinged half-hoops, set with diamonds. A mid 20th century platinum, ruby, sapphire and diamond 'Night and Day' hinged eternity ring. The central 3mm wide band calibre set with square rubies and sapphires, the two hinged half-bands grain set with eight-cut diamonds, all with engraved sides, stamped 'Plat', size about N, 7.2g gross Condition Report: Overall good condition for age, general wear and tear commensurate with age and continual use over a long period of time. The hinges line up so the diamond half-bands line up fractionally below the central band. Some stones show general wear and tear to the facet edges, none are missing however one of the sapphires (near one of the hinges) is a much lighter colour than the rest and may be a later replacement, and three sapphires have minor chips, all not visible to the naked eye and generally only visible under a 10X loupe. Rub-over set at the centre with an oval mixed-cut ruby within an old-cut diamond ten stone scalloped surround, on a D-section shank with tiny diamond single stone leaf-shaped shoulders, stamped 'Plat', size Q, 4.4g gross Condition Report: Overall good condition for age, general light wear and tear commensurate with age and general use, No obvious repairs or sizing, though possibly a re-shank in the distant past. The ruby with some wear to the facet edges so would benefit from a re-polish. measures approx. 6.2mm x 5.1mm x 3.2mm, we can not confirm natural or synthetic or treatments, however suffice to say there are some straight colour banding and inclusions, Please make you own mind up before bidding as we will not entertain the return of this ring should the ruby turn out to be synthetic or treated etc., The old-cut diamonds bright and lively and generally 'white' about H/I/J colour and about SI overall. The head measures approx. 14mm x 12mm overall
