Late 19th/early 20th Century Continental porcelain mantel clock, of vase form surmounted by 'Deutscheblumen' over winged putto terms, flower-encrusted body and scroll base upon further integral shaped plinth with scroll supports, the clock movement having a white convex enamelled dial with Roman hours and Arabic minutes, the two-train movement striking on a bell, unmarked, 48cm high Condition: Typical petal losses to flower encrusted areas, please see images for more information. One putto should be holding aloft a ewer, this is detached but present and maybe missing a handle. Clock dial has infilled enamel chipping around the winding arbors, general wear to gilding. Scroll base of clock is attached to base via 'putty', visible to central front leg and to rear support, base may therefore be associated. Sold as seen. A retro vintage 1930's Art Deco walnut mantel clock having a dome top over a brass and wooden face with arabic numerals to the chapter ring. The case having inlaid sunburst decoration to the front and a Westminster chime mechanism within is raised on chrome bracket feet. Winder and key supplied.

LATE REGENCY MAHOGANY, EBONY, AND BRASS INLAID MANTEL CLOCK, BY MOLYNEUX, LONDON EARLY 19TH CENTURY the arched case enclosing a cream enamelled dial with Roman numerals, with rubbed maker’s marks, above a brass-lined and inlaid panel flanked by brass flower basket ring handles, above a brass star-inlaid base, raised on a plinth; the twin-train eight-day movement striking a bell, the back plate signed MOLYNEUX/ LONDON (24cm wide, 36cm high, 15cm deep) Footnote: Provenance : The Earls of Crawford and Balcarres, Balcarres House, Fife, Scotland Note : It is unknown when exactly Robert Molyneux came to London to be a pupil of the famous watchmaker Thomas Earnshaw, but around 1800 he went on to establish his own business, and in 1805 he was asked to be an adjudicator on Earnshaw’s inventions, a sign that his skills were highly valued. By the mid-1840s Molyneux had won the first place in the Premium Trials three times, a competition instituted by the Board of Longitude to encourage makers to introduce improvements to chronometers, and his products were used by the British Navy. Although the major part of Molyneux’s business was concerned with watches and chronometers, he also made longcase regulators and some bracket clocks, like the example in this lot.

Moorcroft art pottery tube lined mantel clock in the 'Woodside Farm' pattern, dated 1999, from St Asaph cathedral. Choirs and assoc. March 2001. Painted and impressed marks to base. 16cm approx high. Together with a 'Woodside Farm' circular pin dish dated 1999, with impressed and painted marks. 12cm approx. (2)(B.P. 21% + VAT) Some minor crazing as expected but no obvious damage.
