MID-19TH CENTURY MEISSEN PORCELAIN FIGURAL MANTEL CLOCKa pedimented Grecian style building with a resting putti holding a grapevine, the circular clock face with blue Roman numerals set in brass, the facade of the building with a courting couple with floral sprays and cartouches of birds, a maiden draped in floral fabric rests on the building, with a begging poodle, all atop a rectangular base with gilt detailing, marked with blue underglaze factory mark with numerals; overall height: 35 cm (13 3/4 in.), dimensions of base: 29 x 14 cm (11 3/8 x 5 1/2 in.) CONDITION The figural clock appears in age-appropriate condition. Scattered chips to the front right base, back of pedimented building, and grape floral crown of putti. Retouching and repair visible to the front left corner of the pedimented building roof. The clock is not in working condition. Inspection under UV shows retouching to the roof, along the clocks base, and to the puttis head. N.B. All lots are sold in as-is condition at the time of sale. Limestone, fully sculpted,polychrome setting. H. 88 cm. - Losses to the setting, but extensive traces of theoriginal setting present. Comparable objects in the parish church of Le Grand Thon,Vosges, South Lorraine, as well as two groups in the Metz City Museum.
