Lenoir a Paris a 19th Century French porcelain and gilt-metal mantel clock the eight-day duration movement striking the hours and half hours on a bell with an outside countwheel, the backplate stamped for the maker ‘Lenoir a Paris’ and the maker of the roulant blanc ‘Vincenti et Cie, 1623’, the white enamel dial with blue Roman numerals, gilt-brass pierced and engraved hands and signed ‘Lenoir, Paris’, the shaped gilt-metal case mounted either side with two putti riding swans, with a shaped porcelain panel to the front depicting cherubs at play on a bed of straw, two oval plaques depicting female heads and further panels to the sides, surmounted by a gilt-metal wreath and doves, standing on a giltwood base, height 43cm., inc. base.* For details of Vincenti see lot no.691.

Rosper Rousell, Paris a shaped glass and brass mantel clock with an eight-day duration movement striking the hours and half-hours on a bell with an outside countweel, the backplate signed ‘Rosper Rousell, Paris’ and stamped with the trademark of the maker of the roulant blanc ‘Vincenti et Cie a Paris’, the white enamel dial with repeat maker’s signature, gilt Roman numerals, brass moon hands and a decorative centre, the shaped case with glass panels having pierced and engraved gilt brass mounts set behind, with two gilt-metal putti to the front examining a bee-hive and further gilt-metal mounts to the case, standing on a shaped gilded base, height 50cm.* Vincenti set up his factory producing roulant blancs in Montbeliard in 1823 but went bankrupt a year later, whereupon the clock manufacturer Roux took on the management. They were awarded a silver medal for their movements at the Paris Exhibition of 1824. Vincenti died in 1834.
