PIERRE SOULAGES (1919 Rodez – 2022 Nimes) Eau-forte XaFarbaquatinta auf BFK Rives-Velin. 1957.59,5 x 43,5 cm (76 x 56,5 cm).Signiert "Soulages“ und bezeichnet "épreuve d’artiste". Encrevé/Miessner 10.Der französische Künstler Pierre Soulages war der bedeutendste Vertreter der ungegenständlichen Malerei Frankreichs. Soulages verstand es, wie kein anderer, mit der Farbe Schwarz zu arbeiten, mit ihr zu spielen und sie zum Mittelpunkt seiner Arbeit zu machen. Durch starkes Auftragen mittels Bürsten, Besen oder Holzstangen schuf er Rillen, Grate, Kerben und Furchen, die seinen Arbeiten diese besondere reliefartige Struktur verliehen. Je nach Lichteinfall erscheint das Werk somit immer anders. "Ich liebe die Autorität der Farbe Schwarz, ihre gravitätische Art, ihre Evidenz und Radikalität. Sie bildet einen starken Kontrast und gibt so allen Farben eine besonders intensive Präsenz. Sie bringt die dunkelsten von ihnen zum Leuchten und verleiht ihnen so eine düstere Grösse." Soulages erhielt seine künstlerische Ausbildung in Paris im Atelier von René Jaudon und wurde in die École nationale des Beaux-arts aufgenommen, welche er jedoch enttäuscht wieder verließ. Er absolvierte eine Ausbildung als Zeichenlehrer und besuchte die École des Beaux-Arts in Montpellier. Soulages gehörte zu den wenigen Künstlern, die noch zu Lebzeiten ihr eigenes Museum erhielten; es wurde 2014 in Rodez eingeweiht im Beisein des Künstlers und des französischen Präsidenten François Hollande.
1- bzw. 5-flg.; Silber. Gewölbter, nahezu runder Stand mit passig geschweiftem, ausgestelltem Rand, übergehend in breiten Balusterschaft. Über eingezogener Schulter vasenförmige, große Tülle. Darin einsteckbarer Aufsatz mit vier nach außen gebogten, reich mit Voluten- und Akanthusblatt verzierten Leuchterarmen und zentral verlängertem, konischem Balusterschaft, je in vasenartigen Tüllen endend. Stand und Schaft durch sechs geschweifte Grate und üppig reliefplastischen, buckelähnlichen Blütendekor verziert. Auf Aufsatz und Rand graviertes Besitzermonogramm "H O" sowie dat. "1880". Aufsatz vermutlich ergänzt. Besch. oder rest.; Gest. 84, Beschauzeichen. Gew. ca. 2330 g. H. 59,5 cm.A large Russian Baroque style 1- or 5-light silver girandole. Insert probably supplemented. Schauseitig unter dem Lippenrand das zart gravierte, von Blättern umzogene, medaillonförmige Wappen der Familie Chaumont de la Galaisière unter Adelskrone.
