Russian inkwell in the form of a gilt bronze sleigh that carries the well. The glass inkwell is hidden within the sack along the back of the sled. Mounted to a malachite base.Provenance: Property from the distinguished collection of Mr. James Lee Soffer, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.Height: 3 1/2 in x width: 7 1/4 in x width: 4 1/2 in.Condition: There are no chips, cracks or losses to the glass inkwell. Light wear throughout, consistent with age and use. To the interior of the inkwell, there some ink stains. The bronze sleigh has tarnishing, some small areas of discoloration, especially along interior. There is residual polish collected in the recessed areas of the work. Some dirt and dust collected in recessed areas as well. The item opens smoothly on its hinges. There are some small chips and losses to the edges of the malachite base. Some small areas of discoloration throughout. To the underside of the base there is residual paper affixed. There are two holes drilled through the base where the sled is affixed. There are four felt tabs, one in each corner of the base.

William "Bill" Worrell (American, 1936-2021). Bronze sculpture titled "Prayers in the Morning Shadows" depicting his iconic antlered figure affixed to a rock. Numbered AP 6/7; from an edition of 50. With a previous appraisal.Height: 14 in x width: 7 in x depth: 4 in.Condition: No visible dents, cracks, or losses. No visible sign of restoration under UV light. Light oxidation to metal components as expected. Dust collected to the surface and recessed areas. All fingers and horns are firmly attached. Throughout the statue, there are several areas that show uneven coloration; however, it appears to be original. Along the stone base, it is difficult to discern whether the accretions along the sides are original or not; however, it seems reasonable to say that it is original given that the accretions are consistently visible throughout the stand. Light wear along the underside, consistent with age.

European ram's horn sled with remarkable ram horns details fitted with bronze or brass end caps. These sleds are sometimes known as gasslschlitten.Height: 16 in x width: 33 in x depth: 16 in.Condition: The sled is structurally sound and stable. There is wear throughout the sled consistent with age. All pieces are firmly attached. Along the top of the sled there are two major splits to the wood and there are three smaller splits. There are scratches and wear throughout. The round dowel along the front of the sled appears to have been replaced, there is a small restoration where one end of the dowel attaches to the frame. All metal components are tarnished and show wear, consistent with age and use. To one of the large horns on the front of the sled, there is one large fracture near the tip. To the other horn there is a large repaired crack that has nailed together near the base. To the smaller horns there are cracks and splits throughout.

AFTER JEAN DE BOULOGNE, CALLED GIAMBOLOGNA, (1529-1608), A CONTINENTAL PATINATED BRONZE MODEL OF MERCURY LATE 19TH OR EARLY 20TH CENTURY Characteristically portrayed wearing a winged petasus and sandals, and holding his caduceus, held aloft on the breath of Zephyrus, atop a cylindrical base with black slate stepped detail71cm high overallTogether with the companion model of Fortuna, 67cm high overall The Mercury is one of the most famous and replicated works of the Renaissance, but was originally intended by Giambologna to be viewed on its own and importantly, from all sides -thoroughly in line with his Mannerist ideals. It was only in the 19th century that casts after the original model were offered for sale as pairs. As in this case the Mercury more usually being allied with Fortuna, but sometimes with Iris, and more rarely with Fame (Pheme in Greek, Fama to the Romans). Iron Age/Celtic, a bronze phallic bull’s head socketed mount, c. 2nd-1st century BC, 4cm x 3.2cm x 4cm; facing bull’s head with large moulded semi-circular eyes, extending from these on each side are tapering curved horns; the face is curved ending in a ribbed snout; viewed upside down the eyes appear as testicles and the snout a phallus; viewed from the side the eyes become buttocks and the snout a head; oval socket behind. A good, large vintage signed 11 x 14 photograph, the image depicting one of Rodin's sculptures of two entwined human figures, reminiscent of his work The Fall of the Angels which recalls the figures produced by Rodin for his monumental bronze sculptural group within The Gates of Hell. Signed ('Rodin') by the sculptor with his surname only to a light area at the base of the image. An impressive signed image, and quite rare in this larger format.
