THE BEASTMASTER (1982) - Dar's (Marc Singer) Screen-Matched Metal Kapa - Dar's (Marc Singer) screen-matched metal kapa from Don Coscarelli's The Beastmaster. Dar took up his adopted father's sword and kapa, the same kapa used to save Dar's life as an infant, and carried both throughout his adventure, before eventually passing the kapa on to Tal (Josh Milrad). Areas of patina and discoloration and the shape of the welded metal next to the pin match to the closeup shot of Tal unwrapping the kapa in the film's finale. The Beastmaster, based on the novel by Andre Norton, found a following during its extensive showings on television and led to two sequels and a television series.A kapa, sometimes referred to as a "caber," is a type of hinged throwing blade. This bronze-color metal kapa features a central joint that allows it to swing open to full length with two additional spring-backed blades that also pop out. It was given production-applied distressing and patina, meant to make it look old and well-used. It exhibits additional scuffing and discoloration from use and age. Dimensions: 7.5" x 6.25" x 0.5" (19.25 cm x 16 cm x 1.5 cm)Blade was dulled by production.Estimate: $10,000 - 20,000Bidding for this lot will end on Tuesday, March 12th.
