A Louis XV-style ebonised bureau plat, c.1880, French, with gilt-bronze mounts and original tooled and gilt-leather top, gilt-bronze satyr masks to legs with hoof feet, 180cm wide 93cm deep 77cm high Condition ReportPresented with three keys, all of which are functional in the locks. The bureau plat has three drawers to one side and faux drawers to the other, therefore is designed to free stand. General surface wear, scuffs, and marks to the leather, with some wear to the gilding. General knocks, surface wear, small scuffs, splits, and tiny losses and repairs to the veneer and stringing, with evidence of minor cosmetic restoration. Knocks and wear to the supports commensurate with age and use. Some light tarnish and discolouration to the gilt metal. Sabots slightly loose but all attached. Joints are sound and solid. Overall, the piece presents in good structural and cosmetic condition and is ready for use.
