Verzierte Armspange. Chancay, späte Phase, ca. 1200 - 1400 n. Chr. H 7cm, ø 8,5cm. Tumbaga. Armspange mit getriebenen Verzierungen, die alternierend Götterfiguren und Vögel darstellen, die Ränder mit Punktdekor verziert. An den Enden beiderseits kleine Löcher zur Befestigung. Selten in dieser Erhaltung! Der Armreif zeigt zwei Motive: Das hier mittig angeordnete ist die Interpretation des Götterbildes der späten Zwischenzeit. Die Ausbildung der Kopfdarstellung bezieht sich auf die emblematischen Götterbilder von Moche. Hier wurde dieses Motiv in ein hybrides Götterbild einbezogen, welches sich in allen Kulturen immer wieder dominant präsentierte. Hiervon gibt es in etlichen Textilien ähnliche Beispiele. Das andere Bild zeigt vermutlich den See-oder Küstenvogel, der sowohl an der nördlichen wie an der zentralen Küste ein bedeutendes religiöses Ansehen genoss. Seine Präsenz war Garantie für die Völkerschaften der Küste für die maritime Nahrungsgrundlage. Der Seevogel wird schon bei Moche in diesem Sinn angezeigt, später auch bei Chancay, als ausdrucksvolles Merkmal der Späten Zwischenzeit. Late Chancay sheet gold bangle: Embossed with alternating reliefs of gods and birds, the perimeter decorated with a band of beadwork. Pierced several times for attachement at either end.
