1952 Mercedes - Benz 220 Type A Cabriolet, reg. no. FCF 902D, chassis no. 187012/08808/52, engine no. 180T- 45890.Only three owners from new and owned since 1960. This desirable left-hand drive Mercedes-Benz was originally purchased by the late owner who was a British Army officer in the Intelligence Corps serving in Germany. He purchased the car on the 28th of September 1960 from Autohaus Mauss, Düsseldorf for 3500 DM. The car is attractively finished in white with green leather upholstery and black hood. During his military career the car travelled with him, and was exported to Cyprus in 1962. During this time the car and driver were caught in a riot, where it suffered a damaged windscreen after a projectile was thrown at it. The chip and crack are still there to this day. When it was time for him to leave Cyprus in March 1964, as he had grown extremely attached to the car he embarked upon a mammoth road trip with his wife from Cyprus through Lebanon, Syria, Turkey, Greece, Yugoslavia, Italy, Austria, Germany, Holland and Belgium arriving back in England in the car one month later. It is supplied with an extensive collection of rare documents, including the original German 1952 logbook dated the 13 December 1952 listing two former owners, the 1960 bill of sale and related documents, 1958 service book, military petrol ration card, Republic of Cyprus registration document and import documentation registration BR 470 dated 1962, official 1964 road trip permit listing all the countries visited, entry to Beirut pass, English import documentation for 1966, old style British logbook and current V5 documents, service documents, old photographs of the car on its travels and an official workshop manual. It is understood it was taken off the road in in the 1970s and has been stored ever since with the engine periodically turned over to make sure it stays free as it is today. It represents a wonderful opportunity to buy a totally original very sound restoration project with very solid bodywork (the doors still shut like safe doors) and a fabulous history. The ultimate barn find now awaiting its next adventure. It is supplied with some spares and related automobilia. (Subject to 12% buyers' premium inclusive of VAT).

Imported by our vendor from California, the Phase II BJ8 was the ultimate iteration of the venerable 'Big Healey'. The Austin-Healey 3000 MkIII was launched in October 1963 and remained in production until the end of 1967 when production of all Austin-Healeys ceased. Classified as the BJ8, the new model was the most powerful and luxurious of the big Healeys with a Walnut veneer dash, wind-up windows and a 150bhp engine, propelling the car to 60mph in under ten seconds and enabling a top speed of just over 120mph. Improvements to the engine included a revised camshaft, valve springs and twin SU HD8 2 carburettors together with a redesigned exhaust system and servo-assisted brakes. In May 1964, the Phase II was quietly introduced and featured a redesigned rear chassis improving the big Healey's notoriously poor ground clearance.According to its accompanying Heritage Certificate, this splendid Healey 3000 was built between 17th and 20th June 1966 in left-hand drive (North American-market specification), finished in Healey Blue with a navy blue leather interior and fitted with a blue hood. Factory-fitted options are listed as wire wheels, heater, adjustable steering column, laminated windscreen, overdrive, Roadspeed tyres, blue tonneau cover, front number plate and one wing mirror. It was earmarked as a ‘Personal Export Delivery to the USA’ and was dispatched on 4th July 1966. Its first owner was not listed but, according to our vendor, it was owned by a Mr George Burkhardt during the 1990s and was sold to Beverly Hills Car Club in 2014 prior to being purchased by our vendor later that year, having seen it in a car showroom in California whilst on holiday in the States. The Phase II BJ8 was the final development of the legendary ‘Big Healey’ and this example presents particularly well. It retains its original engine and the chassis number matches the Heritage Certificate. The indicated mileage is 53,645 which, looking at the car’s overall condition, may well be correct but naturally can’t be warranted. According to our vendor 'the only thing that has been changed on the car in my ownership is the hood which was custom made by a specialist in 2015. The original hood had severe sun damage with several holes, it was not repairable unfortunately. The hood operation is the best I have ever experienced in a sports car as it can be erected whilst sitting in the car and has just two clips to fix. New tyres were fitted last year'.The bodywork seems in excellent condition for its age with only a couple of small areas of sun damage, the seating is in navy blue leather with contrasting piping, the engine bay appears tidy and the recent bespoke soft top is impressive. It’s accompanied by its V5C, various invoices, the US ‘Pink Slip’ and its most recent MOT ('No Advisories') which expired in June 2018 since when the car has covered just 1,506 miles. This delightful left-hand drive BJ8 has everything going for it - classic colours, chrome wire wheels, overdrive, four seats and years of caring ownership. We invite and encourage your inspection at our NEC sale.Specification Make: AUSTIN-HEALEY Model: 3000 MKIII BJ8 Year: 1966 Chassis Number: HBJ8L36929 Registration Number: GFX 374D Transmission: Manual Engine Number: 29K/RU/H11564 Drive Side: Left-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 53645 Miles Make: LHD Interior Colour: BlueClick here for more details and images

A C16, UK-supplied, right-hand drive, manual gearbox Cabriolet with less than 57,000 miles from new.  It is often said that each decade received the Porsche 911 it deserved and yet it remains today the only sports car that still retains styling elements that are identifiable 60 years on. Launched in 1994, the 993 Series marked the end of air-cooled 911 production and Porsche’s engineers redesigned their standard-bearing model from the ground-up, to such an extent that only around 20% of its parts were carried over from the previous generation. British designer, Tony Hatter’s, penmanship effortlessly combined subtlety and road presence for a changing demographic with an expansive option list to match the individual’s enthusiasm at a time when the right image was deemed as important as performance. On offer here is a 'C16' UK-supplied right-hand drive 993 Cabriolet fitted with the desirable manual gearbox. First registered in June 1995, it has covered less than 57,000 miles since then and has clearly been well looked after, with the most recent service in September 2024 by Sam Lander Porsche Engineering, ensuring that the car is ready for its next lucky owner. The 911 is accompanied by the original owners book pack and service book in their original leather wallet and a selection of maintenance and service history invoices. The Porsche has been looked after by a mixture of Porsche main dealers in its early years and in more recent times, by independent specialists such as Project Nine, Tom Ferguson and Sam Lander Porsche Engineering.Finished in Iris Blue Metallic, the car sits on 17" Porsche-crested ‘Cup 2’ alloy wheels and the comprehensive specification also includes a deployable rear spoiler, electric folding convertible roof, tinted windscreen, wind deflector, electrically adjustable hardback sports seats and a trip computer. The original radio has been replaced with a modern JVC audio system with Bluetooth connectivity. The eagle-eyed amongst you will also see that the interior has been professionally retrimmed in blue and cream quilted leather, with cream Porsche crests embroidered on the seats’ headrests. This freshly serviced, air-cooled example sends it’s power to the rear wheels through a manual gearbox, meaning every box is ticked here for the true 911 enthusiast. Offered at a very competitive estimate, we encourage and welcome your inspection at the NEC.NB; This vehicle will be issued with a fresh MOT prior to the sale.Specification Make: PORSCHE Model: 911 CABRIOLET Year: 1995 Chassis Number: WP0ZZZ99ZSS331924 Registration Number: M93 ACK Transmission: Manual Engine Number: 63S05658 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 56939 Miles Make: RHDClick here for more details and images

Lot 120

Just one previous owner, 28,873 miles from new and finished in the rare colour of Ford Aubergine. The Escort RS Cosworth was an 'homologation special' and its sole role was to incorporate parts that Ford planned to use in their rally cars to ensure success in International Rallying. Because it was smaller, lighter and more nimble than any of the Sierras, the combination of Cosworth power, four-wheel drive transmission and an effective aerodynamic package made it a Rally Giant in all conditions. Success duly followed between 1993 and 1998 in the World Rally Championship for manufacturers, but the road cars were very rare - with just 2,500 'homologation special' versions made, becoming known as 'big turbo cars', all capable of 150mph and easily identified by the aptly named 'Whale Tail' rear spoiler. On offer here is a UK-supplied, right-hand drive Escort RS Cosworth with only one former keeper and 28,873 miles from new at the time of cataloguing. First registered on 31st August 1995, the car is finished in the rare colour of Ford Aubergine with a Recaro trimmed Polaris Hex Upholstery along with deep pile carpets and carpeted door bins.Being a 'Lux', the car is equipped with opening rear quarter windows, electrically operated and heated door mirrors, ‘Quickclear’ heated windscreen, heated washer jets, 3-spoke leather-covered steering wheel, central double locking, tailgate release, lights on warning, rear centre armrest, rear head restraints, electric sunroof, electric windows, with the factory fitted Ford radio cassette alongside the factory upgrade 2040 CD player. It sits on original Ronal soft-spoke 8x16 genuine Ford alloy wheels in excellent condition shod with Toyo Proxie 225/45ZR16 tyres all round. The car was supplied new by Ford RS dealers, Bristol Street Motors in Cheltenham and is complete with its dealer book pack containing the service history as follows:1,870miles - 18-10-19959,511 miles - 15-05-199619,854 miles - 01-03-199724,593 miles - 26-09-2008 including cambelt kit28,824 miles - 14-06-2022The car is accompanied by three keys, including the 'Red' master key, and the aforementioned service history. This is a low ownership, low-mileage example finished in a rare colour and is therefore an opportunity not to be missed.NB; This vehicle will be issued with a fresh MOT prior to the sale.Specification Make: FORD Model: ESCORT RS COSWORTH Year: 1995 Chassis Number: WF0BXXGKABSE95948 Registration Number: N896 PEG Transmission: Manual Engine Number: SE95948 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 28873 Miles Make: RHDClick here for more details and images

Lot 176

A simply superb UK/RHD 930 LE, the highly sought after 'ultimate 930' model; 'Colour to Sample' paintwork and interior, just 20,000 miles, extensive service history and in outstanding condition. First launched at the 1973 Paris Auto Show with production commencing in 1975, the Porsche 911 (930) Turbo was a genuine Supercar which defined both the 1970s and 1980s and was one of the fastest production cars available at that time. The basic engine underpinnings came from the Carrera 2.7RS which was increased to 3-litres (eventually 3.3-litres) and of course, turbocharged with technology gleaned from Porsche's 917/30 Can-Am programme. The brakes were also derived directly from the 917. The bodywork received special treatment resulting in one of the most aggressive looking Porsches ever made with its wide arches and impressive rear 'Tea-tray' spoiler. In 1989, before production of the 911 (930) Turbo was discontinued, Porsche marked the occasion by creating a very special, right-hand drive, limited edition 930 LE - the ultimate Turbo, produced as the last hurrah to a turbo charged era. Starting out as a standard 3.3-litre model, the cars were then sent to the exclusive team at Zuffenhausen who built each example by hand. With just 53 of these cars produced, one for each UK dealership in 1989, a host of bespoke no-cost options were offered including colour-coded wheels, top-tinted windscreen, a choice of colours for interior and exterior, rear-quarter air intake ducts, electric sunroof, heated multi-adjust electric seats, electric sunroof and gold ‘Turbo’ lettering stitched behind the seat. They also came fitted with leather throughout, extending over the seats, dash, centre console and door trims. Topped-off with a 3-spoke steering wheel with a special Porsche crest badge in gold, a feature which is echoed on top of the gear knob, plus a gold plaque with '911 Turbo, 1975-1989 Limited Edition Model' engraving - as recognition of the LE's place in Porsche 911 history.Further features include electrically adjustable Sports seats with heating, electric tilt and slide sunroof, climate control, Becker Mexico radio/CD, rear wiper, and a 180mph speedometer. On the outside, the LE cars are visually very striking with the poster pin-up wide bodywork and big rear wing. The side intake strakes and deep front spoiler (with additional oil cooler) follow the styling of the low-build (Flachbau) SE model. Similarly, the LE utilises the 330bhp 3.3-litre engine of the SE, hence a larger turbo charger, higher lift camshafts, higher boost pressure, larger intercooler and quad exhaust system and the transmission is the G50 5-speed manual gearbox with short shift and the optional M220 limited-slip diff.At the time of production, Porsche had no plans to turbocharge the incoming 964, so it was believed that the LE would indeed be the final forced induction model to leave the Stuttgart factory. The price was an eye-watering £84,500, a full 50% more than the average house price at the time! The car presented here is one of those 53 examples, a 1989 Porsche 911 (930) LE which was delivered new via Porsche Centre JCT Brooklands, being first registered on 24th August 1989. Being such a ‘halo model’ for the marque, this car went one stage further and was specified with ‘Colour to Sample’ paintwork (in this case Gletscherblau Metallic) and interior which, according to Porsche, means ‘an exclusive option that opens up a virtually limitless palette of colours for your Porsche’Being an LE, the car’s Optional Equipment list runs to over 20 items – Porsche literally gave an LE the 'works' (see the attached image of the Porsche COE for the full list), the highlights being: the now iconic LE rear intake ducts, an additional oil cooler, modified engine 930/66, limited-slip differential, and sports seats. This exceptional Porsche has only covered 19,992 miles from new, verified by the car’s accompanying original servicing booklet, routinely carried out (with corresponding stamps) up to 18,537 miles and by numerous old MOT Certificates. In 2012/13 the car (then with 19,629 miles) was sold by Border Reivers, the UK’s largest supplier of classic Porsches and Scotland’s oldest independent classic Porsche dealer. It has since formed part of a significant Collection of very special cars, sharing a professional storage facility with the great and the good. A change of circumstances now mean that this highly rated Porsche is available once again. In preparation for sale, a comprehensive recommissioning service was lavished on the car, costing some £5,600.Iconic Auctioneers (formerly Silverstone Auctions) have been privileged to offer and sell a few 930 LE examples over the years - the last one, with 25,000 miles, achieved £240,000 - but you can see why – all the ingredients are there. This rare Turbo LE was the culmination of the 930 Turbo's 14 years of production and as a result, is probably the best developed iteration of this model, making it highly collectible today. This is one of the best Turbo LEs we’ve had the pleasure of offering and we urge you to come and see the car in the metal.Specification Make: PORSCHE Model: 911 930 TURBO LE Year: 1989 Chassis Number: WP0ZZZ93ZKS000826 Registration Number: G142 JUA Transmission: Manual Engine Number: 67K00959 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 19977 Miles Make: RHDClick here for more details and images

Lot 237

A highly-developed, 350bhp, British-built sports car offering 0-60 in three seconds, this highly-specified example has covered just 99 miles and in 'as new' condition.   In 2012 a pair of car industry professionals, Ansar Ali and Mark Edwards – who had both worked at Lotus and Caterham - decided the time was right to produce a new type of lightweight high-performance sports car, one that combined maximum driving thrills with maximum accessibility - Zenos Cars was born. Less than two years later, Zenos showed its first car, the E10, clearly demonstrating their single-minded determination to use innovation to benefit the experience it delivers to its owners. Production began a few months afterwards, shortly followed by their second model, the E10 S, providing the same engaging experience with even more performance. In November 2015 Zenos announced the pinnacle of the E10 range, the E10 R, offering further development, performance and configuration options. While the E10 S uses a 2-litre EcoBoost engine, the E10 R is fitted with the bigger 2.3-litre unit, similar to that in the Ford Focus RS. In the Zenos it’s good for 350bhp and 350lb/ft of torque. According to company founder, Mark Edwards, he and his team achieved the power figures they had targeted on the first day on the dyno without having to stress the engine too hard. 'We could have had even more power, but we don’t want owners to have to rebuild their engines every year' he says. 'Ford has tested these engines to the moon and back and they’ve got bags of power'.The gearbox is still a 6-speed manual transverse unit gearbox for the E10 R, but the shift action has been shortened for a more precise and direct throw and the gear knob itself is now a bespoke Zenos item. Zenos estimates 0-62mph in three seconds and 155mph flat out. Weighing just 700kg (dry) the E10 R has a power to weight ratio of 508bhp/tonne, which puts it firmly in the performance car big leagues.Standard features of the E10 R include a hybrid carbon-composite cockpit/aluminium spine with steel rollover and side-impact protection system, double wishbone front and rear suspension with Bilstein dampers (in-board front) for incredible handling, O.Z. lightweight racing wheels with Avon ZZR tyres. This particular example features full carbon seats with harnesses, plus the full-sized windscreen. A fully specified E10 R was a £50,000 sportscar when new.The car presented here is a 2016 Zenos E10 R which is UK-registered having covered just 99 delivery miles; indeed, the seats are still plastic-covered and the car has barely been touched.Despite delivering just over 100 cars to customers and what was pretty much universal praise, Zenos hit a financial trouble in early 2017 and fell into administration. The original team behind Zenos moved onto other things. Notably, Ansar Ali went on to be in charge of McLaren's SVO and Matt Windle, who joined Zenos slightly later as Operations Director, has gone even further to become Lotus' CEO.However, do not worry, as there is a very active Zenos-movement out there, with 24-7 Motorsport of Norfolk still providing servicing, upgrades, advice, parts etc. for customers' cars. Give them a call if you are even half-interested in this car.Estimated at £25,000 - £30,000 this 'new' car is substantially cheaper than it would have been if sold when Zenos still existed – so why not be the lead car at every track day you attend and enjoy owning a rare and very well developed British sportscar?Specification Make: ZENOS Model: E10 2.3 R ROADSTER Year: 2016 Chassis Number: SA9FRFRR6GW341096 Registration Number: HX66 HLV Transmission: Manual Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 99 Miles Make: RHDClick here for more details and images

Lot 194

On offer from long term ownership, this time warp Legacy RS Turbo is remarkably well preserved having covered less than 22,500 miles from new.   In the early 1990s, Subaru’s rally exploits turned the brand’s image on its head. From being staid, unimaginative all-wheel drive oddities that only a farmer might want, the cars campaigned by the likes of Ari Vatanen, Markku Alén, Colin McRae and Richard Burns became the darlings of the 1990s go-faster brigade, as the Legacy and Impreza conquered rally stages across the globe and won World Championships. The first of these to appear was based on the successful Legacy four-door saloon and arrived in 1988 as the Legacy RS, with production starting in 1989. Designed to be homologated for 'Group A' competition, it featured a 220bhp, 2-litre, four-cam, 16v, EJ20 turbocharged flat-four mated to a 5-speed gearbox and all-wheel drive offering a top speed of 155mph.First registered in 1989, this early generation RS Legacy was imported from Japan and has been with its current owner since 2014, kept in heated storage with (importantly) no external lighting, where this time-warp remains today having covered less than 1,200 miles since then. Sitting on a set of gold 15" 6-spoke alloy wheels, it's finished in Ceramic White (057) over a grey cloth and cord-trimmed interior, featuring light grey 'tricot' cloth inserts on the seats with matching door cards. The factory specification includes a heated rear windscreen, 3-spoke leather-trimmed Momo steering wheel, automatic air conditioning, a CD and cassette stereo, electrically adjustable folding door mirrors and electric windows. The Cherished Registration Number, G14 PWL, was purchased to go with the car as a respectful nod to Collin McRae's 'Group A'-winning Subaru Legacy, J314 PWL.This Subaru Legacy RS Turbo is a very well presented time warp of the modern classic Japanese performance saloon, offered in impressive, original condition, and with low mileage. Presented in a timeless factory colour scheme, with a potent turbocharged flat-four, an engaging 5-speed manual gearbox and permanent four-wheel drive, it would make an excellent addition to any collection of Japanese performance cars and an exciting yet practical retro daily driver or weekend toy.Specification Make: SUBARU Model: LEGACY RS Year: 1989 Chassis Number: BC5015363 Registration Number: G14 PWL Transmission: Manual Engine Number: 100945 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 36000 KM Make: RHD Interior Colour: Grey clothClick here for more details and images

Lot 110

From a renowned Private Collection, an astonishing Escort RS Cosworth Lux with just 2,221 miles and only two owners from new. Iconic Auctioneers are renowned worldwide for offering the best Performance Fords on the market at auction and occasionally we are offered what can only be described as 'unrepeatable' cars. We have little doubt that this remarkable Escort RS Cosworth is unlikely to be matched in terms of its originality and 'as new' condition for some time to come.Just like the Lancia Integrale and Subaru Impreza, the Escort Cosworth was a 'Group A' rally car for the road - pure and simple. It was actually underpinned by a shortened version of the Sierra RS Cosworth's platform and powered by the same 2-litre turbocharged, longitudinally-mounted, Cosworth-developed engine driving all four wheels. The car was designed and engineered in Boreham, styled by noted designer Stephen Harper and ended up being assembled by Karmann in Germany. The Escort RS Cosworth was an 'homologation special' and its only role was to incorporate parts that Ford planned to use in their rally cars to ensure success in International Rallying. That success duly followed between 1993 and 1998 in the World Rally Championship for Manufacturers, but the road cars were very rare - with just 2,500 of these very focussed motor cars being built, becoming known as 'big-turbo cars', all capable of 150mph and easily identified by the aptly named 'Whale Tail' rear spoiler. This particular example is a stunning, UK-supplied, right-hand drive car finished in Diamond White with the desirable Lux-specification which included full leather, an electric sunroof, electric heated mirrors, heated windscreen, heated washer jets, leather steering wheel, electric windows and carpeted door bins. It has been a cherished part of the significant Collection from which it is offered and having been acquired almost 30 years ago, the car has been cosseted by both its first keeper, from whom it was purchased with just over 2,000 miles indicated and our late vendor who, it would appear, has added minimal mileage in the intervening years. We understand that it was regularly taken to shows in the 1990s, presumably by trailer and featured at an Autoglym Invitation Concours in 2009 where it sat alongside a Shelby Cobra belonging to the renowned petrol head and celebrity chef, James Martin. The odometer currently displays a remarkable 2,221 miles, supported by the car's first two MOT Certificates from 1995 and 1996 showing 2,217 and 2,218 miles respectively, providing evidence of how little the car has been used. In between its trailered outings, it has been part of the family living in our vendor's house in recent times.Given the lack of use in recent years, it has been decided to bring the car to sale following a thorough pre-auction preparation by the respected Tremona Garage of Southampton. The car will arrive at the NEC in a 'ready to drive' condition, although it won't be put through an MOT (it's a bit academic considering it's only covered three miles since the last one) and given that it doesn't currently sit on the DVLA system and may well become part of another Collection where daily use is not a factor.Once an integral part of one man's Collection of all the very best that Ford had to offer, we are sure that this 'as new' Escort RS Cosworth will find another home where it is equally treasured.Professional images to follow. Specification Make: FORD Model: ESCORT RS COSWORTH LUX Year: 1992 Chassis Number: WF0BXXGKABNCB5063 Registration Number: K11 RSE Transmission: Manual Engine Number: NC85063 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 2221 Miles Make: RHD Interior Colour: Black LeatherClick here for more details and images

Lot 222

A late production example, this XK has been beautifully restored by Jaguar specialists, CMC. A car-starved Britain, still trundling around in perpendicular pre-war hangover vehicles, glimpsed the future in October 1948 with the launch of the Jaguar XK120 at the Earls Court Motor Show. Production commenced in 1949 in Coventry, and the XK's swoopy shape and stylish occupants would become a common sight on British roads over the next 15 years. It heralded the arrival of Jaguar's famous 3.4-litre twin overhead camshaft XK engine, (the basis of all their engines for the next 25 years) with an alloy cylinder head and twin side-draught SU carburettors producing nearly 160bhp. The '120' referred to the car's top speed which, at the time, made it the fastest production car in the world. Jaguar seems to have always had a flair for marketing and to illustrate that the car's top speed was not a figment of a publicist's imagination, in May 1949, on the Jabbeke to Aeltre autoroute, an XK120 with its hood and side screens in place recorded a speed of 126mph, and no less than 132mph with the hood and windscreen detached and an undertray fitted. The car was in almost instant demand and went on to spawn the famous XK lineage of fast and elegant sports cars. This particular XK120 Coupé was originally built in left-hand drive during December 1953 and dispatched to New York prior to being registered there early in 1954. Returning to these shores in the late 1990s, it was converted to right-hand drive and fully restored. Invoices and photographs in the comprehensive history file and records on XK Data show that the work was carried out by Roger Austin Learmonth and subsequently featured in his book Petrolhead. Upgrades at the time included the fitting of a 4.2-litre XK power unit and period bucket seats to enhance legroom. Now finished in beautiful Opalescent Blue with a red leather upholstery, the car was further updated with a louvered bonnet with straps and wire wheels, all designed to make it ideal for European touring. It was re-registered in the UK during July 2003 and used extensively until being sold to our late vendor (a characterful bon viveur and friend of Iconic Auctioneers owner, Nick Whale) in 2016. It was bought for some £115,000 at the time as probably the very best example of an upgraded model available. However, our late vendor was particularly fastidious and wanted the very best car available to enjoy and with which to tour Europe. Consequently the services of renowned specialists, CMC of Bridgnorth, were employed and between March 2017 and December 2019 the history file illustrates that some £88,824 plus VAT was invested in rebuilding this car for a second time and the results are really impressive. Naturally, this work was recorded and fully detailed in a selection of invoices which need to be studied in order to understand the sheer level of detail applied to every aspect of this rebuild to, what can only be described as, the ultimate standard. Shortly after all this work was completed, our vendor got to enjoy his 'pride and joy' on a trip to Le Mans during which the Jaguar performed faultlessly, however, a little later, he sadly fell ill and was not able to spend much more time in his beloved XK. So today, this is a remarkable opportunity for someone to own a very special motor car that has had all the money spent in the right areas, and with the best people, and take WAS 210 on to the next stage of its journey. We invite and encourage your close inspection of this stunning motor car and its fascinating history file in order to fully appreciate the quality on offer and be pleasantly surprised by the very realistic guide price.Specification Make: JAGUAR Model: XK120 Year: 1953 Chassis Number: 681302 Registration Number: WAS 210 Transmission: Manual Engine Number: F1430-8 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 4673 Miles Make: RHD Interior Colour: Red LeatherClick here for more details and images

Lot 243

A fine example of pure, post-war, space-age influenced Americana, superbly restored and subtly upgraded. The start of things to come. No one would have guessed that the low-key arrival in the US of a number of ex-POW German rocket scientists during late 1946 would influence the direction of automotive design for a decade in the 1950s and 1960s. These men were undoubtedly the world’s leading experts on rocketry and rocket propulsion and their knowledge turned the long-established American dream of space travel from a fantasy into a possibility.Although modern historians consider Sputnik’s launch in 1957 as the start of the Space Age, its aesthetic can be traced back to at least a decade earlier when rocket ships, spaceflight and nuclear energy entered the public consciousness. Dream cars designed by Ford’s Advanced Styling Studio and others were never actually built, but they included several of the era’s most distinctive design characteristics - aerodynamic tailfins, sleek silhouettes, curved edges and missile-shaped ‘hood ornaments’ that could probably impale you. However, some eight years earlier, Oldsmobile replaced their flathead straight-six with a 303ci, 135bhp V8 entitled 'Rocket' that kicked off a generation of horsepower wars, spaceship-inspired designs and elaborate mid-century details. The Oldsmobile logo of a globe surrounded by rings was selected to convey the 'universal' appeal of the brand, and the Olds steering wheel centre features the Saturn-like representation of our world on a background of jet-age stars. For 1948, and carrying into 1949, Oldsmobile gave its flagship 98 Series a freshened look that drew heavily from the marque’s Futuramic styling concept. That year, Futuramic design language was applied to four 98 body types on the 125" wheelbase chassis including the convertible. In period advertising, Oldsmobile promised that the 1949 Futuramic offered 'the dramatic design of the future — the finest of functional modern design in any field'. While the styling of the Futuramic was a great success, perhaps the bigger news was the 303in3 Rocket V8 engine for 1949. By any definition, the Futuramic was a luxurious cruiser born to 'rocket' down the road in comfort and style. This particular example has clearly being restored to a superb level with subtle upgrades to enhance not only performance, but also the style and driving enjoyment that only a piece of 1950s Americana can provide. The external styling alone turns heads whenever out on the open road, underlined by the 'bookie's cap' windscreen visor and typical space age adornments through to the Cadillac hubcaps, all enhanced by acres of chrome. It's been mechanically upgraded with a slightly later 1955 Rocket engine fuelled through a four-barrel Edlebrock carburettor and turning a mild cam to produce, we understand, around 300bhp fed through the 4-speed Hydromatic automatic gearbox. Internally, the style and luxury continues with typical period details and chrome highlights including subtly fitted air conditioning all adding to the overall feel of the superbly trimmed interior. With post-war American vehicles currently enjoying a surge of popularity, this glorious Rocket 88 can be used and enjoyed to the maximum, be that out on the open road or on the show field. Your early inspection is welcomed and encouraged to fully appreciate this very early 'space-age', trend-setting, Oldsmobile rocket-ship.Specification Make: OLDSMOBILE Model: ROCKET 88 Year: 1950 Chassis Number: 508C24414 Registration Number: 136 XUT Transmission: Automatic Engine Number: TBA Drive Side: Left-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 55641 Miles Make: LHD Interior Colour: Red / Magnolia ClothClick here for more details and images

Lot 250

A fully restored example of the military-grade 'Lightweight' Land Rover, finished in a beautiful colour combination. Rover bosses, the Wilks brothers, saw the need for a tough, four-wheel drive utility vehicle to serve the needs of the agricultural community in the immediate post-war years. Given that its inspiration had been the wartime Jeep, it cannot have surprised Rover when their versatile vehicle also turned out to be of interest to the British Army, which began taking deliveries a year or two after the start of production in 1948. Supremely adaptable for military purposes, the Land Rover has fulfilled any number of differing military roles, from fighting vehicle to ambulance and been exported to countless countries worldwide. The smallest Land Rover on the market at the time was a Series IIA 88" which was too heavy for most military applications. In order to deal with this, a major modification to the basic Series IIA was devised, making many body components easily detachable and removing many non-essential items. The result was the Land Rover Half-Ton, known widely as the Lightweight or Air Portable. In practice, to reduce weight sufficiently for the helicopters of the day to lift them in combat conditions, the tilt and sticks, the upper parts of the body, the doors and windscreen were removed, all to be refitted later. The most significant change however was a reduction in width of 4", by redesigning the standard Series IIA axles and fitting shorter half-shafts, which meant it would fit on a standard pallet. Complete, the Lightweight IIA weighed 1,202kg, over the specified weight and heavier, in fact, than a 'standard' Land Rover. The term Lightweight was therefore confusing. However, with the removable body panels taken off it was below the limit. Since improvements to the helicopters meant more lift was available, the Ministry of Defence accepted it for use with production continuing until 1984.Purchased by our vendor in 2020, this example immediately underwent a full and meticulous restoration including a new galvanised chassis, a bikini soft top and a considerable amount of time and effort going in to ensure the body was as perfect as the rest of the car. Since completion, it has covered just 300 miles, the main enjoyment to our vendor being the rebuild and perfecting process. The history file includes two large files documenting the restoration process with photos and invoices along every step of the way, as well as some older MOTs.Ready and set for someone to enjoy in whatever format that may be, whether it’s going to shows or using it as intended, this Air Portable is ready for whatever that challenge could be.Specification Make: LAND ROVER Model: 88" LIGHTWEIGHT AIR PORTABLE Year: 1982 Chassis Number: SALLBBAH1AA172964 Registration Number: JUG 910Y Transmission: Manual Engine Number: TBC Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 11988 Miles Make: RHD Interior Colour: BlackClick here for more details and images

Lot 231

Superb example of the ever popular R107 500SL, beautifully presented with just 13,000 miles. It really is hard to believe that the R107 Mercedes SL is now over 50 years old, yet in 1971 this new chapter in the history of the SL sports car began. It was the first SL with a V8 engine, it had a thoroughly modern new design. It was a self-confident motor car - sporty yet luxurious and quick yet comfortable. In many ways it was and remains the perfect convertible. As is the way with all thing Mercedes-Benz, the new SL featured a number of safety-related technical innovations during its development such as defined crumple zones, high-strength steels in the A-pillars, a windscreen frame with bonded glass, padded surfaces and deformable elements in the interior. From March 1980, ABS was available and from January 1982, a driver’s airbag and belt tensioners. The ultimate engine choice in Europe was to be found with the all-alloy overhead-camshaft V8 500SL of 1980, with 240bhp available (bearing in mind a Porsche 911 offered a ‘mere’ 204bhp at the time). Over time, the interiors became even more luxurious, the car’s weight was reduced with new alloy bonnets and boot lids and the suspension and brakes continued to be developed until it was replaced by the R129 in 1989. The 'R107' SL was a classic almost as soon as it ended its 18 year production run and today they make perfectly usable daily drivers, especially when, as with this example, they come with a factory hardtop.Finished in Smoke Silver with an Anthracite leather interior and a black mohair soft top, this extremely low-mileage example displays just over 13,000 miles from new. Understood to have been originally ordered for the UK market, the car was actually supplied new to Japan, from whence it returned in 2015. In 2020, it underwent a workshop inspection which included an engine compression test and full service. Our vendor, having acquired the car around three years ago, commenced a recommissioning which included a comprehensive oil and filter service, belts, water pump, gearbox oil and filter, front shaft and pump seals and a complete replacement stainless steel exhaust system. He also chose to replace the boot lid, preferring the simple lines without the spoiler fitted upon purchase, though the original is available to the next keeper if they wish. A period-style Blaupunkt Stereo has been fitted along with replacement dash and centre console trim as the car had been retro-fitted with a poor AC system that he has sensibly removed. The car’s new build record lists that it was supplied with a number of options including a limited-slip differential and anti-lock braking system. Our vendor confidently states that this is a car in which he could happily trust to jump in and set off on a journey of hundreds of miles tomorrow. The car is accompanied by its matching hardtop, a number of invoices and old MOTs, various Japanese service records, an original sales brochure and a book on the SL 107 series cars. This is an SL that could easily fit within any Collection or equally be enjoyed on the show field or international touring.Specification Make: MERCEDES Model: R107 500SL Year: 1986 Chassis Number: WDB1070462A021658 Registration Number: C554 CTR Transmission: Automatic Engine Number: 117962-22004967 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 13000 Miles Make: RHD Interior Colour: Anthracite LeatherClick here for more details and images

Registration No: UNR 613 Frame No: B8431 MOT: ExemptBritish registered from new With original buff logbookV5C for use on UK roadsIn 1959, Triumph launched themselves into the world of scooters with the Tigress. Capable of over 70mph with just 10hp, the scooter was designed for the motorcycle enthusiast. Here we present a very original example in its largely original and heavily patinated paintwork with only minor touch-ups. It has been owned by the vendor's father since 2016. Prior to that we can see from the buff logbook that the scooter was first registered in Loughborough on the 8th February 1960 to an Ernest Smith, remaining around the Nottingham area until 1966. We are told by the vendor that the scooter was recommissioned just a few months ago, benefitting from a carburettor clean, new fuel tap and fresh oil. We understand it is 'running well', however, we were able to turn the engine due to the lack of a battery. The front badges and RAC badge are all original, as are the switches and lights. The scooter has a large period accessory windscreen with a very nice Cinque Ports Motorcycle Club badge and an original rear rack.
