BMM 917A is a previous RAC, Coupe des Alpes and Spa-Sofia-Liege rally entrant, restored by an enthusiast over recent years into fast-road spec. The 1,071cc Cooper S was the first Cooper S produced by BMC and the first of the Minis to succeed at the Monte Carlo Rally. Visits to the winners' circle became a regular event as the Mini chalked up numerous international race wins - including three at the prestigious Monte Carlo rally from 1964 to 1967. The definitive 'Giant Killer', only 4,000 or so 1,071cc-engined Mini Cooper S cars were made between April 1963 and August 1964.The car presented here started life as an early OEW/black 1963 Morris Mini Cooper 1071 S, which was built and first registered in May 1963 (according to its accompanying British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate, number 92/784). It caught the eye of a young John Wadsworth (1937 – 2021) who went on to become a BMC Works Team driver and, although the car was despatched to Loxhams of Blackburn, it was registered in Middlesex, as John wanted one of the then new style, suffix registration numbers. John’s father was a customer of the Chequered Flag Garage in London and arranged for them to register the car as BMM 917A in late May 1963.John and BMM’s first major outing was on the 1963 Coupe des Alps, as car #57 (see website), where they finished in ninth place and second in class, winning a coveted Coupe. The Spa-Sofia-Liege followed as car #32 (see website), on which they retired and also graced the RAC Rally as car #61 (see image of it on the start ramp in Blackpool).Nothing is known, at the time of cataloguing, of BMM’s history after this time, before it was bought by our vendor’s father in June 1993 as a retirement project. He was an avid Mini enthusiast and over the following years, he set about restoring the car, utilising a later shell. The car was painstakingly worked on and finally finished, however not long after, the owner was taken ill before sadly passing away in February 2024. The family now wish for the car to be sold, and below is the information that they have been able to glean from handwritten notes left in the workshop:Bodyshell - Professionally restored and resprayed in red with a white roof, 'Works' alloy doors, fibreglass boot lid.Engine/drivetrain: 1,275cc engine bored out to 1,293cc (fully balanced), Longman big valve head, 11:1 compression ratio (not unleaded), 649 full-race camshaft, duplex chain, Weber carburettor, double SU fuel pumps, oil cooler, Aldon distributor, lightened flywheel, high performance radiator, LCB manifold and RC40 exhaust; straight-cut gearbox, competition clutch, Salisbury LSD/Hardy Spicer couplingsSuspension/wheels: 1.5-degree negative camber bottom arms, adjustable shock absorbers, 7.5" front brake discs and rear Minifin drums, powder-coated Cooper S reverse rim wheelsOther: Top-tint laminated windscreen, 120mph speedometer, classic bucket seats and full harnesses; twin fuel tanks, leather bonnet strapThe family are also keen to state, 'Even though the car is classed as an historic vehicle, it was still presented for MOTs between 2013 and 2018; in that time, it always passed with 'No Advisories', covering just 465 miles. Since the last MOT, it has covered just ten miles before being laid up. The car has not moved since then (due to the owner's ill health) and has been stored in a dry garage.'Specification Make: MORRIS Model: MINI COOPER S 1275 Year: 1963 Chassis Number: KA254384633 Registration Number: BMM 917A Transmission: Manaul Engine Number: 9F-SA-H/19306 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Make: RHDClick here for more details and images
A fine example of the 280SL from two long term, caring owners, just over 28,600 miles and finished in rare Diamond Blue with a matching factory hardtop. It’s hard to believe that the R107 Mercedes SL is now over 50 years old, yet in 1971, this new chapter in the history of the Mercedes legendary SL began. It was the first SL with a V8 engine, it had a thoroughly modern new design and was a self-confident motor car, sporty yet luxurious and quick yet comfortable. In many ways it was, and remains, the perfect convertible. The new SL featured a number of safety-related technical innovations such as defined crumple zones, high-strength steels in the A-pillars, a windscreen frame with bonded glass, padded surfaces and deformable elements in the interior. From March 1980, ABS was available and from January 1982, a driver’s airbag and belt tensioners. Over time, the interiors became even more luxurious, the car’s weight was reduced with new alloy bonnets and boot lids and the suspension and brakes continued to be developed until it was replaced by the R129 in 1989. The 'R107' SL was a classic almost as soon as it ended its 18 year production run and today they make perfectly usable daily drivers, especially when, as with this example, they come with a factory hardtop. This two-owner example of one of the final 280SLs built must surely be one of the best available. It has covered just 28,637 miles from new, a remarkably low figure as a result of its former keepers deliberately keeping it as an investment, enjoying it very sparingly and properly storing it in between drives. It’s finished in Diamond Blue (355), a rare colour only introduced in 1984, with a matching hardtop and a classic SL interior in Royal Blue Leather (272). It remains in very good condition with gleaming paint and brightwork, the glass and light lenses look crystal clear and crack-free, whilst the lovely blue leather has aged exceptionally well with no damage, just a gentle patination. The car was originally supplied by the Sunningdale Carriage Co. in Berkshire and was optioned from new with cruise control, rear badge delete, dark blue soft top, a fire extinguisher and heated rear and electric front windows. The original alloy wheels were later changed for optional 14" Bundt ‘Mexican hat’ wheels. The car was serviced at the supplying dealer until 1988, then there’s a bit of a gap to 2013 (though only 7,600 miles were covered) when it was purchased by its second owner. He immediately asked the SLShop to carry out an oil service and they have looked after it ever since. It has been through the SLShop’s workshops and their invoice (£8,694.55) details recent work including a restored plenum chamber, new heater blower motor, case and seal, an auxiliary belt, new alternator, rear discs and pads, front subframe bushes and finally the car’s underside was cleaned and Waxoyled. It’s supplied with its V5C, numerous invoices for servicing and maintenance, and almost all of its older MOT Certificates (with the missing items recorded online), supporting that very low mileage. This is a very good excellent example of the 2.8-litre R107 with just 28,700 miles from new, low ownership and recent attention from the SLShop. We invite and encourage your inspection of this classic Mercedes.Specification Make: MERCEDES-BENZ Model: 280SL Year: 1985 Chassis Number: 1070422A023392 Registration Number: B940 HAN Transmission: Auto Engine Number: 11099022007864 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 28700 Miles Make: RHD Interior Colour: Royal Blue LeatherClick here for more details and images
A collector-quality example of Renault's never-to-be-repeated, limited edition design classic with just over 5,000 miles and an extensive service history. Designed from the outset as a driver's car, the Spider's chassis was made of aluminium (combining low weight and substantial strength) clad in a GRP body. The gearbox and engine were one unit, transversally fixed in an oscillating hinge (an arrangement inspired by aeronautical design), which all but eradicated the interference of engine vibration with the chassis. The pedals of the Spider were adjustable as well as the seat so the driver could achieve the absolute optimum driving position. The heart of the Spider was a mid-mounted, 2-litre, DOHC F7R four-cylinder engine which was borrowed from the Clio Williams and later used in the Mégane Coupé. Tuned to generate 148bhp and 129lb/ft of torque, the 16-valve unit was linked to a 5-speed manual transmission that sent power to the rear wheels. The 930kg two-seater sprinted from 0 to 62mph in 6.9 seconds and went on to a top speed of 133mph.According to the official production numbers, there were just 1,685 examples of the Spider assembled in Alpine’s Dieppe factory from 1996 to 1999. Each car was hand-built from start to finish and took about 90 hours to complete, which partially justified it's relatively high price at the time. The Spider model was unfortunately discontinued after only a year and a half of production.400 left-hand drive cars were produced as 'saute vente’ with a wind deflector (instead of a windscreen) which created an air-screen in front of the driver. For the UK-market, a number of right-hand drive cars were built with windscreens, but only 60 of them were sold. The remainder of the cars were sold in the German market converted back to left-hand drive, with the addition of a driver’s airbag. The 1997 Renault Sport Spider presented here is one of those 60 windscreen-equipped, right-hand drive examples sold new to the UK-market and has covered just over 5,000 miles since new. It's finished in the original three-stage Pearlescent Liquid Yellow paintwork – arguably a Spider’s signature colour. Incredibly original and still in 'showroom condition', there cannot be many better examples available, its condition being wholly commensurate with its low mileage, fully supported by servicing records. It was supplied new on 16th December 1997 through Bailey’s of Hanley Ltd. (Renault) and is still accompanied by its owner's book-pack, service book, numerous receipts and invoices, V5C, previous MOT Certificates and both keys, as well as clear and weatherproof cockpit covers. It also retains its original ‘briefcase’ in the front luggage compartment which houses the locking wheel nut, spares, tow hook, and jack. The service record is impeccable too, the most recent (with cambelt) being carried out at Renault specialists, Cedar Motors Ltd. of Leicestershire, in August 2023. Full details in the history file. This is a very rare opportunity to acquire a special little sports car which is rarely seen on British roads and that is sure to be the talking point at any classic car show.Specification Make: RENAULT Model: SPORTS SPIDER Year: 1999 Chassis Number: VMKAF0H0515801676 Registration Number: R137 EFA Transmission: Manual Engine Number: C000322 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 5215 Miles Make: RHDClick here for more details and images
This well sorted MG TC represents the best of post-war light sports cars and still catches the eye. A landmark in the history of MG, the TC was the first British sports car to sell in serious numbers globally, proving a huge success in America where it paved the way for generations of Triumphs, Austin-Healeys and numerous others. Launched in 1945, the TC may have been a mildly revamped version of the short-lived TB, but the formula of traditional sports car styling, sparkling performance and affordability made the latest MG a winner, with some 10,000 examples rolling off the production lines at Abingdon over the next five years. Some useful modifications were made to the TBs suspension, with new shock absorbers and conventional springs in place of the sliding trunnion set-up of the pre-war model. The willing 1,250cc four-cylinder engine produced 54bhp at 5,200rpm, delivered to the rear wheels through a 4-speed gearbox with synchromesh on second, third and top. With its upright radiator, separate wings and a fold-flat windscreen, the MG's steadfastly traditional appearance bucked prevailing styling trends, lacking amenities like bumper bars or even a heater, all of which only seemed to enhance the TCs appeal to hardy sportscar drivers around the world. This charming 1947 MG TC was fully restored between 2002 and 2005 and the quality still shines through, providing the gentle patina that we all admire. The ground-up restoration included blasting the chassis and finishing with a high quality powder coat topped with a new Hutson body tub. At some point the original engine has been replaced with a 1,359cc unit (B9898) and XPAG Engineering carried out a full rebuild on this engine and gearbox. The car is fitted with the improved steering box and updated rear axle seals, and was treated to a four wheel geometry set-up. The interior was retrimmed in tan leather and looks splendid with its original Jaeger instruments and Bluemells sprung wheel and it has a full set of weather equipment including a half-tonneau. It wears a correct Lucas FT27 fog light and the high-level brake light is removeable for the sake of originality. Finished in the best colour for post-war Britain and a timeless design that still cuts the mustard. This well sorted MG TC represents the best of post-war light sportscars and still catches the eye. Registration - L90 SFSChassis No. - SALLDVAS77A734501M.O.T. - October 2024Odometer - 130,053This 2007 Land Rover Defender 90 is powered by the 2.4-litre TDCi engine, a modern four-cylinder motor promising easy serviceability and low running costs. Finished in metallic blue, ‘L90 SFS’ has a black chequer plate on the bonnet, roof bars with spotlights, and a snorkel – something which should prove useful should the new owner encounter flooded road conditions. Other features include side steps, a rear bench on the right-hand side, and a centre cubby box with tool kit. The smart alloy wheels feature recent tyres, and the vendor reports it has “only been used on the road as a leisure vehicle”. Condition throughout, from engine and transmission, to bodywork, paintwork and interior, is described as ‘good’. The vendor adds that sadly, the vehicle was listed as Category S, but assures that it was subsequently “repaired by a Land Rover specialist to a very high standard”. A cherished vehicle, it has an MOT to 1 October this year, and the vendor tells us that the only reason they are selling it is because they are moving overseas. The Land Rover Defender was introduced in 1983, as a more modern development of the original Series Land Rover introduced in 1948. Visually, it retained the classic looks, but featured notable upgrades such as coil springs front and rear, a full-length bonnet, integrated headlights, single-piece windscreen and wider tracks with extended wheelarches. A true design icon, the Defender was continually developed right up until production ended in 2016 – and the name today survives in an all-new and brilliantly-conceived version that pays tribute to the original in a thoroughly modern way. In summary:· Metallic blue Defender 90 with distinctive styling features· Only 'used on the road as a leisure vehicle'· Powered by the 2.4-liter TDCi unit and featuring numerous tasteful upgrades

Fitted with the XR3i powertrain of 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine, here with five-speed manual gearbox, ‘E688 FUR’ has factory-fitted white leather seats and RS body ki, including alloy wheels and boot-lid spoiler. The vendor also states that it also comes with ABS brakes, electric windows, electric wing mirrors, a heated windscreen, and electric folding roof.Offered with a folder of paperwork, showing some service history and receipts of work, it includes MOTs that seem to support the indicated 41,665 miles on the clock. ‘E688 FUR’ has been in the vendor’s care for the past six years, and has been valeted, with a ceramic coating applied to the paintwork. It is described by them as in ‘good’ condition throughout, from electrics and interior, to paint, bodywork, transmission, and engine. Registration - MWV 589JChassis No. - 8305014272157M.O.T. - ExemptOdometer - 93,153One of very few Kaiser CJ-5 Jeeps in the country, ‘MWV 589J’ offers a rare opportunity to own a genuine military vehicle – albeit one that isn’t British. Like many Jeeps, this Kaiser CJ-5 is left-hand drive, which is unsurprising considering there is documentation showing that it was in service with the Swiss Army during its lifetime. Imported from Germany in 2019, ‘MWV 589J’ comes complete with German ‘D’ country plaque at the rear, and instruction plates in German and French inside.Still running a 24-Volt system, the Jeep is presented with the usual military features you might expect; khaki green paint inside and out, vinyl seats and rear bench, hooded light on the front wing, and exterior-mounted Jerry Can, spare wheel, and tow-hook. Fitted with a 2.2-litre, four-cylinder engine and three-speed manual gearbox, the odometer shows an indicated 93,153 miles which wouldn’t be surprising considering its age and pedigree, but is unwarranted. The transmission, electrics, and bodywork are all rated as being in ‘excellent’ condition by the current owner, while the engine, paintwork, and interior are all regarded as ‘good’. A direct descendent of the famous World War II 1941 Willys Jeep, the CJ-5 was launched in 1954 with a number of changes over its CJ-3 forebears, following Kaiser’s merger with Willys-Overland the previous year. Most distinctive of these was the new, rounded bonnet and front wings, though there were mechanical alterations too. These included bodywork made from heavy-gauge steel, a larger windscreen frame, more comfortable front seats, and longer springs. These proved popular enough to give the CJ-5 one of the longest production runs in history, not ceasing production until 1983, by which time Kaiser had been sold to the American Motors Corporation (AMC) in 1970. · Rare left-hand drive CJ-5 Jeep with military pedigree.· Imported from Germany following service with the Swiss Army.· Retains many military features including exterior-mounted spare wheel, light, and Jerry Can.. Full original canvas canopy
The Jaguar XK150 was manufactured between 1957 and 1961 and despite having a family resemblance to the XK120 and XK140, the XK150 was radically modernised. A one-piece windscreen replaced the split screen and the wing line no longer dropped as much over the doors. The bonnet was widened, opened down to the wings and on the roadster, the bulkhead was moved back four inches to make the bonnet longer. In the interior, the XK140's walnut dashboard was replaced by a leather trimmed unit. The standard engine, the same as fitted to the XK140, was the 3.4-litre DOHC Jaguar straight-six rated at 180bhp at 5750rpm. Either wire wheels or disc wheels could be specified and the suspension and chassis were very similar to that on the XK140. These were high-performance, well-appointed sports touring cars and could cope with long distances with alacrity. This is a rather interesting example as it was originally shipped to Casablanca, Morocco. It must have been quite a sight on the roads there in 1960 and would have been one of very few XK150s over there at the time. The heritage certificate confirms that the car was built as a left hand drive coupé in black with a red interior, exactly as it is presented today. The engine number also matches the heritage certificate. Our vendor purchased the car from a friend who inherited the car around 10 years ago, but the car was stored in a barn in France and it wasn’t collected until 2023! The car was covered in dust but had clearly been stored in a nice dry environment. Once cleaned, it was clear that the quality of the paintwork and panel gaps were excellent and we are told it was in excellent structural condition too. It has been through some gentle recommissioning and now starts and runs beautifully. The car is presented in lovely condition, with room for some improvements to take it to the next level and is offered to auction without reserve. The car is supplied with a NOVA certificate, so all UK taxes have been paid, but it is not currently UK registered. Consigned by Fraser Smith
When the BMW M535i was launched in 1980, it brought worlds together which had hitherto been separate: competition-like driving, comfort and elegance all in the dimensions of a top-of-the-range limousine. The Getrag gearbox connects to the rear axle and limited-slip differential and the braking system has been upgraded to discs all round with the suspension lower and stiffer and damped by Bilstein units. Front and rear spoilers give the car not just visual flair whilst the interior gained bolstered Recaro seats and the iconic M1 ‘flat’ sports steering wheel. Not only does it benefit from a full engine rebuild but also a full respray to the original factory Diamond Black complete with M-Sport decals. A fresh windscreen has also been fitted with refreshed Recaro leather seats, a new radio to fill the void and electric windows. One important accessory is that new owner is presented with is an additional handbook in order to explain the changes between a standard roadgoing 5-Series saloon and an M535i. This is a rare idiosyncrasy that often goes missing early on in other examples purchased. Not this time, and also included is the non-standard speedo up to 240kmh and a full one-year MoT test certificate. Understated and very cool. The 964 was produced between 1989 and 1994 and is a standout car for its time which is possibly even more sought-after today. It has a sleek, modern look that is still recognisable and unique, which made it a very popular donor car for people choosing to build a backdated, or ‘resto-mod’ 911. The fact that so many 964s were used as the base for a ‘resto-mod’ build, means that very few un-modified examples remain, especially in rear wheel drive Carrera 2 guise. This Carrera 2 cabriolet has been with our vendor for 15 years and looks excellent in its lesser seen special order colour of Velvet Red Metallic. The car is fitted with the all important manual gearbox, making this a very desirable car. The option code sticker is still present under the bonnet, showing option ‘220 – locking differential’, ‘383 & 387 – Sport seats’, ‘494 – Two rear shelf speakers’, ‘567 top tint windscreen’, ‘690 CD Player’. The car was originally supplied to Jersey and was brought over to the British mainland in 1993, with the V5C showing 4 keepers in total. Our vendor has owned the car since 2009 and has been maintained particularly well since, almost exclusively with Parr Porsche specialists. The bills in the file total over £40,000, with the standout being a bill for over £9,000 for a top end engine overhaul in September 2020, just a couple of thousand miles ago. There really are too many invoices to detail, but the car has been seen by Parr mainly on an annual basis, bar a few exceptions, during our vendor’s ownership and it has always been kept in fine fettle. The cup alloy wheels are in good order and are shod in barely used Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres.Cosmetically the car presents well, there are a few usual age related marks, but everything is commensurate with its nearly 35 years of use and only 63,000 miles. The drivers seat bolster has worn, quite common due to how pronounced they are, but it could be easily rectified by the new owner. Overall, the interior presents well and has room for some improvements to bring the car up to the best standards. This is an excellent example of a manual Carrera 2, which is the one to have and is presented to auction with a fantastic history file, MoT test certificate valid until 4th December 2024 and a V5C registration document. The Morris Minor was a British economy car that debuted at the Earls Court Motor Show on 20th September 1948. Designed under the leadership of Alec Issigonis, over 1.3 million examples were manufactured from 1948-1971. Initially available as a two-door saloon and convertible, the range was subsequently expanded to include a four-door saloon in 1950 and wood-framed estate, The Traveller, plus the panel van and pick-up truck variants in 1952. The Minor was manufactured in three series; Series I, Series II (1952) and finally the 1000 series such as the car offered today. These 1000 series cars benefitted from an engine which was increased in capacity to 948cc and are differentiated from earlier examples of the marque by their curved one-piece windscreen replacing the two-piece split windscreen and an enlarged rear window. Other modifications specific to this car is a new dashboard layout including a lidded glove box on both the driver and passenger side of the dashboard.Originally registered on 9th August 1960 this delightful Morris Minor has been owned by the vendor since February 2018. Having been well cared for and dry stored, this tourer presents in good condition, all-round although to be expected of a 64 year old vehicle, there are some age related marks. The engine started on the button during our visit and we are advised this Morris drives with no known faults. Simplicity is a word to describe a Morris Minor, they are remarkably uncomplicated yet extremely reliable. The Tourer is an instantly recognisable, quintessentially British part of motoring history. Together with the 300 SL, the Mercedes-Benz 190 SL made history at the New York International Motor Sports Show in February 1954 by being the first new production Mercedes-Benz to be unveiled outside of Germany. The striking impression given by the 190 SL, sitting alongside the bigger 300 SL, was neat, sporty and with dashing lines - signatures of Mercedes-Benz designers Karl Wilfret and Walter Hacket. And between May 1955 and February 1963, 25,881 of these cars were produced, a huge success for Mercedes-Benz. Its engine boasted four inline cylinders with a chain driven overhead camshaft and two carburettors delivering a respectable 108bhp for that era, and still providing an exhilarating drive today. The body was a monocoque design, welded to the shortened chassis of the type 180 saloon. A racing version with aluminium doors and a small windscreen was never officially produced although, these parts could be ordered from the factory for weekend racing. This charming left hand drive 190 SL was built in the fourth year of production in 1957 and registered new in 1958. It was more recently imported and first registered in the UK on 12th January 2016 and is finished in cream with a contrasting red interior and black soft top. The coachwork is in good condition showing light patina, as too, the interior and engine bay. Recent maintenance work has been completed by PKF Engineering, in Salisbury with maintenance invoices shown in the history file. Supplied with a history file including maintenance documents, sundry invoices, and the current UK registration document. This most elegant of sporting tourers simply awaits its next custodian. First registered in March 1991, this modern example has fast become a classic in its own right and good cars, such as this, are now hard to find. Finished in the classic Smoke Silver with Mushroom plaid interior, this benefits from the ‘Sportline’ chassis option which consisted of lowered and uprated shocks and springs, bigger anti-roll bars and an uprated & more direct steering box. Also included is a sports steering wheel with 15-hole light alloy (fully refurbished) wheels, electric sliding/tilting sunroof and self-levelling suspension.Serviced by Mercedes-Benz Chichester from new to 83,800 miles and subsequently by further specialist garages, it had a new windscreen fitted in June of last year under the watchful gaze of Jamiroquai’s front man and noted classics collector, Jay Kay. It has since been serviced in 2019 by Mercedes-Benz experts, John Hains of Goring-by-Sea totalling over £1,300 and, most recently with Smercs of Portsmouth, leading Mercedes-Benz specialists on the South Coast. With Cosworth models now in excess of £20,000, this now-coveted Sportline example is offered without reserve, with a full 12-month MoT certificate and will be of firm interest to enthusiasts who are now featuring these modern classics in their collections. Registration No: F319 ODP Chassis No: SALLDHHB7FA360263 MOT: April 2025Offered with a collection of invoices and a current V5CSubject to lots of expense at Land Rover specialist in current ownershipFresh MOT expected by the time of salePLEASE NOTE: This lot is offered with an MOT certificate until April 2025.The ‘One Ten’ was introduced in 1983. Further differentiated from its Series III predecessor by a taller one-piece windscreen, modernised interior and more sophisticated Range Rover-derived permanent four-wheel drive system, the newcomer gained a shorter wheelbase sibling, the ‘Ninety’, in 1984. With their superior load capacity, handling and ride comfort, the ‘One Ten’ (110) and ‘Ninety’ (90) proved strong sellers.Offered here is a very practical iteration of the Land Rover Defender 110. A long-wheelbase 110 example of the Pickup Defender, it has also benefitted from a purposefully built enclosed Defender hardtop by Ifor Williams. There is still space for 2 passengers up front as per the usual ‘Landy’ configuration.Subject to lots of expense in current ownership, expenditure in 2021, at a Land Rover specialist, involved the wiring of the front DRLs, replacement of o/s front door hinges, replacement of the heater blower motor, replacement of the brake light and hazard light switch and repair to the wiring for the rear lights. Expenditure in 2023 included replacement of the head and rocker gaskets, along with a door lock and ignition barrel. A fresh MOT is expected by the time of sale. It is offered with a collection of invoices and a current V5C. For more information, please contact: James McWilliam james.mcwilliam@handh.co.uk 07943 584760
Registration No: WLM 725 Chassis No: S824751DN MOT: Exempt1 of just 1,368 RHD examples manufacturedBenefiting from the factory-fitted Special Equipment (SE) pack which comprised: front fog lamps, wire wheels, and twin exhaustsOffered with a Heritage Certificate and a collection of old MOTs and invoicesExtensively restored in c.2010 including a new interior and the fitment of A/CBy the time the XK150 was launched in May 1957, Jaguar had won Le Mans four times and was about to do so once again. A logical progression of the XK140, subtle changes to the bodywork gave this final iteration of the XK a distinctly more modern air. The split windscreen was replaced with a single sweep of toughened glass and the scuttle height was raised, along with the waistline. The bonnet was widened and the walnut dashboard of the XK140 was replaced by one trimmed in leather. Thinner doors gave more interior space. The standard engine was the 3.4-litre DOHC straight six unit of the XK140, which was later increased to 3.8-litres. Still more power became available from 1958 in the form of the 'S' engine. The XK150 was the first production Jaguar to be equipped with disc brakes and was initially offered in Fixed Head Coupe (FHC) and Drophead Coupe guise, the Roadster following in 1958. By the time production ended in October 1960 to make way for the E-Type, some 4,445 FHCs had been produced, of which just 1,368 were RHD examples.Manufactured on the 13th of January 1959, this home market example was supplied new via Henlys Ltd of London to a J. W. Bradstreet of Goring-On-Sea and registered ‘WLM 725’ – a registration mark it pleasingly retains today. One of just 1,368 RHD examples built, it was specified from the factory with manual transmission with overdrive and benefits from the factory-fitted Special Equipment (SE) pack which comprised: front fog lamps, wire wheels, and twin exhausts. Residing in the car friendly climate of South Africa for some 20 years, the XK150 was provided with a comprehensive restoration there in c.2010. Finished in Black with a Red interior, the Jaguar is fitted with a MkIX 3.8 engine. The extensive restoration included a new interior and the fitment of air-conditioning.Treated to a new clutch, front calliper overhaul, master cylinder reconditioning, and new fuel lines in 2019/2020, this handsome XK150 is offered with a Jaguar Daimler Trust Heritage Certificate, South Africa motor vehicle licenses, a collection of invoices, a selection of previous MOTs dating back to the 1980s and a current V5C document. Running excellently during our photography session, the vendor informs us that the XK150 drives very well with working overdrive. The vendor does note that the windscreen wiper motor does need replacement. For more information, please contact: Paul Cheetham paul.cheetham@handh.co.uk 07538 667452
Registration No: Unregistered Chassis No: 220165 MOT: June 2024Current family ownership since 1976Original owners wallet with handbookAn old MOT certificate from 1976 and a few invoices from 1973PLEASE NOTE: This lots ignition key has snapped off in its barrell, a new Lucas ignition barrell is included but has not been fitted. The 121 was the base model of Volvo's 120 (Amazon) Series of cars designed in-house by Jan Wilsgaard and introduced in 1956. Unlike the slant-backed PV444/544, the newcomer was a modern-looking three-box design. Safety was already a priority for all Volvo models and the Amazon range featured a padded dashboard, laminated windscreen and seatbelt attachments front and rear - a Volvo first. Power came from a new OHV in-house unit initially of 1.4-litres, but increased to 1.6, 1.8 and eventually 2.0-litre capacity over the model's fourteen-year lifespan. These were mated to either three or four-speed manual gearboxes or a three-speed automatic unit. Suspension was independent at the front with wishbones and coil springs and by live axle, torque arms and coil springs at the rear. Braking was initially by drums all-round with discs becoming standard at the front from 1964. Over time the Amazon was available as either a two- or four-door Saloon or Estate. Like its predecessor, it was of tough construction and inherently good handling and roadholding and proved to be a successful competition car, both in the forest and on the track.First registered in Manchester on the 2nd August 1966, the 121 has resided in North Wales since the early 1970s. Finished in White and with an automatic transmission, this 121 began life at John Wallwork Ltd, Manchester, possibly as a showroom display or demonstrator. The 121 then came into the hands of Mrs M Richardson, Swinton, Manchester some 8 months later, in March 1967. The car moved to Llandudno in November 1970, before Mr W. Bennison, down the road in Colwyn Bay in Aug 1972 and further along the coast to Mr D. Clare of Abergele in December 1974 where it has remained in family ownership ever since. There is an old MOT certificate from 1976 showing the mileage as 7,220. Still possessing the original green logbook, the 121 also has the original instruction book, even with the automatic transmission supplement still present. There is the old MOT certificate from 1976 and a few invoices from 1973.Due to the long-term ownership, the Volvo has never had a V5 document and due to this will need to be re-registered with the DVLA before being ready for the road again. Registration No: LFL 369L Chassis No: 95100686A MOT: ExemptSubject to an extensive restoration that only recently completedFinished in the correct hue of NATO Green satin paintwork to a very high standardNicely detailed and presented very wellStarted readily and ran well during the recent consignmentThe smallest Land Rover available at the time was a Series IIA 88 inch wheelbase, which was too heavy. A new modification to the basic Series IIA was devised by making many body components easily detachable and removing many non-essential items. The result was the Land Rover Half-Ton, known widely as the Lightweight or Airportable. In practice, to reduce weight sufficiently for the helicopters of the day to lift them in combat conditions, the tilt and sticks, the upper parts of the body, the doors and windscreen were removed, to be refitted later. The most significant change, however, was a reduction in width by four inches, by redesigning the standard Series IIA axles and fitting shorter half-shafts, which meant it would fit on a standard pallet. Complete, the Lightweight IIA weighed 1202 kg, over the specified weight and heavier in fact than a 'standard' Land Rover. The term Lightweight was, therefore, confusing. However, with the removable body panels taken-off it was below the limit. Since improvements to the helicopters meant more lift was available, the Ministry of Defence accepted it for use. Production continued until 1984.Chassis ‘95100686A’ was supplied new to the military in 1972, understood to have been retained by them until 1986 when the Lightweight was road registered. Passing through the hands of three keepers before being acquired by the vendor in 2019, the Land Rover was partially restored but required completion upon purchase. Since then, the Land Rover has undergone a comprehensive restoration throughout, the final stages of which were completed at the start of this year, including new rear springs (correct for Lightweights) and shock absorbers, a new carburettor, and an interior retrim in the correct Black vinyl. The restoration has focused on using new old stock panels where possible and ‘LFL 369L’ has been painted in the correct hue of NATO Green satin paintwork to a very high standard. Under bonnet areas, as well as the interior and rear load bed are nicely detailed, with stainless fixings used where possible, as well as all new brake lines throughout. The electric system has benefitted from a full new wiring loom which has been correctly fitted through the chassis. This was complemented by new lights and bezels all round and a dashboard refresh, including the troublesome capillary oil temperature gauge system.Mechanically the vendor informs that the 2.25 engine functions as it should and is painted in ‘Duck Egg Blue' as most of the Military reconditioned engines were. The ignition system has been upgraded to electronic breaker-less and all new plugs/leads. The vendor informs that the gearbox, transfer box, and four-wheel drive system are all excellent and that the wheels and tyres are of the period correct 6.50x16 size including the bonnet-mounted spare. Starting readily and running well during the recent consignment, this very well presented Lightweight is a rare chance to acquire a comprehensively restored example with nice attention to detail. Registration No: ADO 677 Chassis No: 1L4656DN MOT: T.B.ABuilt by Suffolk Sportscars Ltd to 'top works specification' in 2008VSE overhauled, 'fast road' 4.2 litre XK DOHC engine with lightened flywheel, balanced internals and stainless steel exhaustFour-speed manual gearbox plus overdrive, full weather equipment and a heaterResident on the Isle of Man from 2014 - 2018 where it was road registered as 'MAN 100'Re-registered by the DVLA in 2018 with the number plate 'ADO 677' and described by them as a '1969 Jaguar Convertible, Green'PLEASE NOTE: This lot has a MOT Certificate valid until April 18th 2025 and passed with 'no advisories' Widely regarded as one of the most beautiful sports cars ever made, the Jaguar SS100 has been an object of desire for more than eighty years. Due to its rarity and value the model has inspired numerous imitations. Though, few - if any - have been as aesthetically accurate as the cars built by Terry Rowing of TRAC Engineering. By the late 1980s Rowing had established an enviable reputation for restoring genuine SS100s and learnt how to remanufacture components such as the solid brass chromed radiator surround, alloy louvered bonnet and folding windscreen etc. Deciding to create a Jaguar XJ6-based SS100 Evocation that combined the style and feel of the original with more modern road manners, he approached current Red Bull F1 designer Adrian Newey (a customer at the time) for permission to take precise GRP body moulds from the latter's superb 1938 car. Unveiled in late 1990 the resultant TRAC prototype was well received by the motoring press. The production version was predominantly supplied in 'home-build' form at the rate of four a year until 1996 when the manufacturing rights were purchased by Roger Williams of Suffolk Sportscars. Reborn and refined as the Suffolk SS100, the design remained in production until 2020. According to its accompanying history file, this particular example was factory-built by Suffolk Sportscars Ltd to ‘top works specification’ in 2008 utilising the donor identity of a 1969 Jaguar XJ6 S1 4.2 litre SWB Saloon. Finished in British Racing Green with Black leather upholstery, the two-seater features Brooklands aeroscreens, reproduction Lucas QK596 headlights, ‘Owl Eye’ style rear lights, silver-faced instruments and a Black mohair hood (plus matching tonneau cover). Opening the louvered alloy bonnet reveals polished camshaft covers and twin SU carburettors (the latter with pancake filters). Overhauled by marque specialist VSE, the ‘fast road’ 4.2 litre straight-six engine boasts a lightened flywheel and balanced internals. Allied to four-speed manual plus overdrive transmission, it imbues the SS100 with a rapid and long-legged gait. Purchased by its previous keeper, N. Sykes Esq., for the princely sum of £68,600 in 2014, the Suffolk spent the next four years on the Isle of Man where it sported the number plate ‘MAN 100’. A frequent returnee to the factory for servicing, the two-seater was re-registered as ‘ADO 677’ by the DVLA not long after entering the current ownership during 2018. Listed on the accompanying V5C Registration Document as a ‘1969 Jaguar Convertible, Green’, it remains just as smart as the modest 13,000 miles displayed to its odometer would suggest. The vendor has made preliminary enquiries about having the car IVA tested but not borne the associated circa £6,000 - £8,000 expense after receiving conflicting advice as to its necessity. Regularly MOT tested up until this year, ‘ADO 677’ started readily thanks to its electronic 1-2-3 ignition upgrade and ran well during a recent test drive. All but guaranteed to turn heads wherever it goes, this decidedly handsome, factory-bult Suffolk SS100 is offered for sale with history file, tool kit, battery conditioner and wind wings etc. For more information, please contact: Damian Jones damian.jones@handh.co.uk 07855 493737

Derived from the contemporaneous E36 3-Series Saloon (though, its semi-trailing arm rear suspension was courtesy of the earlier E30), the Roadster's running gear included power-assisted rack and pinion steering, Macpherson strut independent front suspension and four-wheel disc brakes. Initially powered by 1.8 or 1.9 litre four-cylinder engines allied to either manual or automatic transmission, larger capacity 2.8 Litre straight-six units joined the Z3 range from 1996 onwards. Boasting 52:48 weight distribution and a top speed of over 125mph, the stylish two-seater found fame as James Bond's transport in the 1995 film Goldeneye.Offered here is a BMW Z3 with the 1895cc engine and a 5-speed manual gearbox. Finished in Silver with a Silver factory hardtop, as well as the Black factory power soft-top, the vendor describes it as a ‘beautiful car in really good condition’ with a low mileage of some 69,000 miles. Registration No: 216 KO Chassis No: MHW6/18502 MOT: ExemptA mere 7,163 miles from new at the time of consignmentThree private owners from new with two from the same familyVery rare Traveller variant of the Farina OxfordSurely and unrepeatable opportunity with this originality, condition, provenance, and mileage? The Farina-designed Morris Oxfords were launched in 1959 and remained in production until 1971 and sought to continue the very successful and long-running Oxford name. The sixth Series offerings came in both Saloon and Traveller (Estate) forms from 1961, both using an uprated version of the B-Series BMC four-cylinder engine with a capacity of 1622cc. The basic body style was shared with the Austin Countryman but there were interior differences in dashboard and seating, as well as being built at different factories. Whilst many of the smaller Morris 1000 Travellers are still in circulation, the mid-range Oxford version, which was competing against the Singer Gazelle and Vauxhall Victor Estate cars of the time, is a far more rare find and a good one must surely be worth serious thought.First registered as ‘216 KO’, this amazing Morris was supplied new by Pheasant Garage Ltd of Erith, Kent to Mr A. R. Spilling Esq of St Paul's Cray (then classified as Kent but now part of Greater London) on 3rd January 1964. Maintained as a labour of love and very sparingly used, an accompanying MOT certificate from September 1973 reveals that the Oxford had covered just 4,150 miles up to that time. Taken off the road and put into storage the following year, the Traveller was inherited by Mr Spilling’s nephew during 1999. Sympathetically recommissioned and similarly only allowed to venture forth in good weather, ‘216 KO’ remained within Mr Spilling’s family until being acquired by the seller in 2004. Conscious of the Morris’s remarkable state of conservation not to mention the awards Mr Spilling’s nephew had collected, the vendor has done his best to preserve the Oxford’s remarkable originality, condition, and incredibly low mileage.Offered for sale now having covered just 7,163 miles from new, the Traveller displays numerous pleasing original features including the running-in instruction on the windscreen, the original crossply Dunlop tyres (albeit needing changing before any road use), the original Red leather interior (with the rear seats understood to have never been sat in), notably original paintwork in Dove Grey over Rose Taupe, and the registration number which has remained on the Morris from new. Accompanied by a history file that contains the RF60 buff logbook, original Passport to Service that displays the 1st service completed in May 1964 at 648 miles and corresponding ‘Shellubrication’ record, several original sales literature booklets and guides, several MOT certificates and some recent invoices, and a current V5C document. Recently fitted with a clutch slave cylinder in 2022, the Morris has also received a new battery in 2023. Traveller variants of the Farina Oxford are in short supply with very few surviving, so surely this example is unrepeatable with this originality, condition, provenance and mileage! Powered by an enlarged 2912cc version of BMC’s C-Series straight-six engine that developed some 124bhp and 167 lbft of torque, it could be had in two-seater (BN7) or 2+2 seater (BT7) configurations. Progressively improved, the 3000 metamorphosed through MkII and MkIIa guises before the arrival of the ultimate MkIII BJ8 in October 1963. Boasting a centre console, proper convertible hood, wood veneer dashboard, redesigned exhaust system and wind-up windows, the 2+2 seater BJ8 proved a comfortable and fast grand tourer. With engine output boosted to 148bhp and 165lbft of torque thanks to a new camshaft and better valve springs etc, its reputed 124mph top speed was accessed via a four-speed manual gearbox. Last of the line, the Phase Two variant benefited from redesigned rear suspension, strengthened splined hubs and larger diameter front disc brakes.Chassis ‘40857’ was completed on the 13th of March 1967 as a North American export car and was dispatched on the 31st of March that year destined for a dealership in Baltimore, United States of America. Specified from the factory with wire wheels, overdrive, an adjustable steering column, heater, Road Speed tyres, a laminated windscreen and a Black tonneau cover. Finished from new in metallic Golden Beige paintwork, with Black interior trim and hood, the Big Healey was repatriated to Britain in 1991 as a restoration project and was subject to repainting and converted to right-hand drive before returning to the road in 1992, before being purchased by the vendor in 2003 from renowned Austin-Healey specialist Murray Scott Nelson.Extensively improved throughout the vendor's ownership, the notable works include a carburettor refurbishment, new rear hub extensions, renewed starting equipment in 2021; front brake pads and rear brake shoes in 2020; heater and cold air trunking in 2019; new fuel tank in 2017; new wiring harness throughout in 2016; complete bodywork restoration and repainting in metallic Golden Beige paint (in a slightly stronger colour than the original) in 2015; new rear brake drums and shoes in 2014; new rear shock absorbers and new wire wheels in 2013. Earlier work also included a reconditioned overdrive and unleaded cylinder head, cylinder bores honed and new rings, new big end bearings, and stainless steel exhaust, and the 3000 has been serviced annually during the vendor’s ownership.Used widely while with the vendor touring the Outer Hebrides, Ireland, the Black Forest, Berlin, France, Switzerland, Holland, Denmark, and Sweden, with some 50,000 miles covered during the twenty-one years with the vendor. Offered with a large history file that includes the BMIHT Heritage Certificate, a vast selection of invoices for improvements and parts, a large collection of MOT certificates dating back to 1992, numerous photographs covering the bodywork restoration and repaint, breakdown of the improvement works completed while with the vendor, and a current V5C document, as well as two sets of keys, full weather gear in Black, and a no advisory MOT certificate until March 2025.
