An extremely interesting and scarce issue of what we believe to be an antique puppet / marionette doll. Dating to the early 20th century. The figure, approx 11" tall is dressed in luxurious quality attire. Background of this elusive doll, supported by a hand written note label attaced to the doll presents a theory of being a Nanki-Poo character from the famous 'Mikado' play by Gilbert and Sullivan. Research suggests some relevance, albeit tentative examples of other similar style Mikado Characters from Tony Sarg however some assosciation to the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company suggests links to this establishment for the doll's source, possibly used a promotional tool. The doll has a wire skeletal frame with compositional, hand painted head which features a prominent wide clown minstrel style mouth. The doll is well preserved however has some compositional wear on the head as shown. Clothing appears bright and good. The Doll has been housed in a Victorian Glass Dome as pictured, to which an element of conceptual taxidemy is also intriguing and to be considered. Gremlins 2: The New Batch (1990) - an incredible original prototype Mogwai puppet torso created by Rick Baker for the Joe Dante production. The unfinished body represents a key step in the development of the Mogwai's during pre-production, and consists of a fur body torso suit with foam latex hands built in to the arms. The inside of the body can be accessed from the rear which has an open flap showing the foam structure within. A unique piece of movie history, supplied with an original Propstore COA. Measures approx; 31cm x 8cm x 20cm. Rick Baker is a retired American special make-up effects creator and actor, mostly known for his creature effects and designs. Baker won the Academy Award for Best Makeup a record seven times from a record eleven nominations, beginning when he won the inaugural award for the 1981 film An American Werewolf in London. Baker is also known for his work on Star Wars, Gremlins, The Howling, Thriller, The Rocketeer, King Kong, Men In Black and hundreds of other movies.

SARG TONY: (1880-1942) German American Puppeteer and Illustrator. Vintage signed and inscribed sepia 8 x 10 paperstock image of Sarg standing in a full length pose directing a puppet of a young girl. Signed in dark fountain pen ink to a clear area of the image. Some light wrinkling and creasing, largely to the edges, and with a series of five small NYT perforations across the image indicating that it had a New York Times copyright. G
