A fabulous rare David Leech of Pelham Puppets made ' Abba ' set of 4x puppets. Each large scale, approx 45 - 50cm tall. Each dressed in period typical 1970's Abba fashion, and each puppet hand painted to match it's respective band member. Benny comes with a stand alone piano and matching fur covered stool, Bjorn with his trademark starburst guitar and jumpsuit. Each puppet comes with its own display 'stage' and hanging frame. The total height of the frame measures 101cm. Undamaged, no breaks or repairs. Rare. Note: these puppets were once featured on the BBC Show ' Flog It ' - Series 14, Ep 28.

1984-1996 Gerry Adams 'Spitting Image' puppet. A cariacture puppet of Gerry Adams complete with suit, mackintosh coat and instantly recognisable glasses. Used on the ITV television programme Spitting Image which ran from 1984 to 1996. Adams was regularly featured on the show, particularly at the time of the broadcasting ban on Sinn Féin members. Southeast Asia, Indonesia, ca. mid 20th century CE. A set of six Javanese Wayang polychrome wooden stick puppets with fine detailing and exquisite color, carved and painted on both sides. Such puppets are part of the rich Indonesian Wayang tradition. Size: each puppet measures approximately 13.5" W x 24.5" H (34.3 cm x 62.2 cm)Six excellent puppets, brightly colored, made of wood with painted embellishments. These puppets are used in wayang, a theatrical performance unique to Java that uses puppets and human dancers. This style of theatre has been designated by UNESCO as a Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage since 2003. This particular type of puppet - operated by rods connected to the hands - is known as a wayang golek, which today is associated with the Sundanese culture of West Java. This area and the northern part of Java are home to some of the oldest Muslim kingdoms on the island and it is believed that, from the 17th century onward, puppets of this style were used to tell stories of Muslim history; later, it became a way to tell the stories of the Ramayana and Mahabarata. Several types of these puppets i.e. the suket puppet, puppet klitik, Krucil puppets, puppet gedog, and wayang beber are no longer created or used. Mali, Malinke/Bamana peoples, early 20th century CE. A wooden puppet with nice proportions; this once would have had articulated arms that swung at its sides. It has well-shaped features and the distinctive heavy brow of other Bamana human representations, with a pronounced nose and large ears. It may once have had hair made of raffia or some other perishable material, and was probably painted bright colors. Comes with custom stand. Size: 3.5" W x 31" H (8.9 cm x 78.7 cm)This puppet was made to play a role in the Sogo bo, a puppet masquerade drama that focuses on domestic relationships between men, women, and each other in polygamous households. Conflict among wives is a common theme and two of the main characters are the Favorite Wife and the Bad Wife. This figure may have been made to portray one of those.
