The base of the shoulders stamped with the makers name. In the style of Deans Rag Book Co. The puppet dressed in a cotton suit with white undershirt.

[PUYI]: (1906-1967) Also known as Henry Pu Yi. Last Emperor of China and final ruler of the Qing dynasty. Ruled as Xuantong Emperor 1908-12, and 1917 and Emperor of Manchukuo 1934-45. An interesting T.L.S., by Hsieh Chieh-Shih, in Chinese characters, one page, folio, Hsinking, 1st March 1934, to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bolivia. Hsieh Chieh-Shih, in his capacity as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Manchoutikuo, Manchou Empire, states `..with regard to the accession of His Excellency the Chief Executive of Manchoukuo to the throne and the establishment of a monarchical regime, I have the honour to enclose herewith a copy of the said communication…´. A historical communication on the creation of a new empire and the new elected King. With two dated ink stamps of the Bolivian Foreign Affairs Ministry, not affecting the text or signature. Left border irregularly trimmed, otherwise VG. £400-600 The Chinese city of Changchun, was renamed Hsinking between 1932 and 1945 and became the new capital of the Japanese puppet state of Manchukuo.. Hsieh Chieh-Shih (1879-1954) as Foreign Minister of Manchukuo, and following the enthronement, dispatched to all foreign nations a message announcing the ascension of the Emperor and the advent of a monarchial regime in Manchukuo, declaring that his Government earnestly desired the goodwill of all nations. After WWII Hsieh was charged of treason and imprisoned. After the Japanese occupation of Manchuria and Manchukuo in 1932, Puyi assumed the title of Chief Executive of the new state of Datong. The 1st March 1934, letter date, Puyi was declared Emperor of the state of Manchukuo by the Empire of Japan . When the Republic of China was established in 1949, Puyi was imprisoned as a war criminal for ten years.
FALLA MANUEL DE: (1876-1946) Spanish Composer. A.M.Q.S., M de Falla, one page, oblong 8vo, n.p., n.d. In bold black ink the composer has penned a four bars quotation on three staves, which he identifies as being from his Retablo. LPright colour right border of the page due to previous mounting, but remaining out of the quote and signature. Minor overall age wear, otherwise VG £200-300 El Retablo de Maese Pedro (“Master Peter´s Puppet Show”), 1923, is a Puppet Opera Falla composed during his time living in Granada
