Lawrence (David Herbert, 1885-1930). The Lost Girl, (Novels, thin-paper edition), 1927, author’s signed presentation inscription to front free endpaper, ‘Walter Wilkinson, from D.H. Lawrence for he was a jolly young show-man at the Villa Poggi, 14 Marzo 1927’, orig. cloth gilt, sl. faded, preserved with remains of orig. printed wrappers in an Italian limp leather gilt chemise, rubbed, 8vo. Walter Wilkinson wrote ‘The Peep Show’ about his travels in the west of England with a puppet show. Lawrence reviewed the book (Roberts C156) and the Wilkinsons were neighbours of the Lawrences when they lived at the Villa Mirenda near Florence in 1926-1928. (1)
