Boulton and Watt's Steam Engines with Newcommen's and Mr. Hornblower's, first edition, Truro, Printed by W. Harry, 1792; An Address to the Mining Interest of Cornwall, on the Subject of Messrs. Boulton & Watt's and Mr. Hornblower's Engines, ?first edition, [Truro], 1793, together 2 works in 1, library calf-backed cloth, 8vo⁂ Two extremely rare pamphlets, neither of which has seemingly ever appeared at auction. ESTC locates 6 copies of the first (3 in UK, all in Birmingham libraries, and 3 in N. America) and 3 copies only of the second (National Library of Scotland and 2 at Columbia University). There is another issue of the second work with only 22pp. - ours has 31 [1]pp. The second work bears an ink signature of J. Rennie on the title - presumably John Rennie the Elder (1761-1821), Scottish civil engineer, designer of Waterloo and Vauxhall bridges, who visited Watt at Soho, Staffs in 1784 before moving to London and running the Albion Flour Mills at Blackfriars, for which Boulton and Watt were building a steam engine.
