1948 Vauxhall VeloxReg. no. LYW 438Chassis no. LIP72450Engine no. TBCTransmission: Manual The Velox LIP 4 door saloon was powered by a newly developed 6-cylinder engine and cost £550 including taxes at first production. They were produced across the world from 1948-1951 in the UK, Switzerland, New Zealand and even Australia. This Velox was purchased purely for the use in a family member’s wedding and has seen little work since with the odd Sunday drive out and then put into storage when not in use. The blue paintwork presents well, accented by white wall tyres and chrome trim. The leather interior looks recently trimmed and features blue piping, complimenting the blue carpet. The engine seems to run smoothly although the column shifter linkages in the engine bay do needs some work as it does struggle to engage gears. With a little work this unusual British saloon car offers pre-war luxury in a post-war elegant saloon. The sale includes a current V5 along with some information about the model and a selection of spare parts.Estimate: £5,000 - 7,000To be auctioned along with a fantastic selection of other vehicles on March 5th at our Showell Farm site, SN15 2NU. Updated MP62, recently restored and now running a Honda CBR1100XX Super Blackbird power unit. After a successful career in Formula 1 with BRM, Lotus and Surtees, Mike Pilbeam launched Pilbeam Racing Designs in 1975. Based in rural Lincolnshire, the company quickly established itself as the premier manufacturer of Hill Climb single seater and sports racing cars. 17 UK Hill Climb titles in the last 21 years are ample testimony to the company's expertise in this field. But PRD is much more than just a specialist Hill Climb chassis manufacturer, F3, Formula Renault, Rally (Group A, WRC and F2), GT and Super Touring Car projects have all been undertaken, with much success, for customers including General Motors, Ford, Honda, Peugeot and Hyundai.Offered here for auction without reserve at Race Retro 2023 is this Pilbeam MP62 built in 1992 as an out and out hill climb car. This particular car is chassis #4 of around 14 MP62 constructed in total with slicks and wings and it was later upgraded to MP82 specification which added some carbon fibre parts and additional aerodynamic features. It was run competitively by Andrew Henson & his daughter in 2015/16, mainly in the MAC events, with its original Vauxhall XE and Hewland gearbox set up finished in blue and silver. The car was subsequently sold on to its current owner who has undertaken a 'nut and bolt' restoration and a full respray in bright orange. More recently, chassis #4 has been professionally converted to run a Honda CBR1100XX superbike engine (164bhp @ 9500rpm when new). The lightweight and powerful unit is mated to a 6-speed sequential gearbox and chain drive to a Westgate Engineering limited-slip differential. The specification also includes adjustable Koni dampers, adjustable anti-roll bars, new aero wishbones, Stack digital dash, removable steering wheel, dry sump with scavenge pump and a full stainless-steel custom exhaust system. The engine conversion and chassis development were professionally carried out by TS Historic of Newbury, Berkshire, with a total investment well into five figures. The Pilbeam is supplied with a history file, period photographs of it in competition, set up sheets and its original RAC Competition Car Logbook (which will require updating) and spares package including a full spare set of wheels, hub nut socket, Honda dash & other partsThe car has not been driven in anger since its restoration so will require some initial set-up, and renewal of its safety equipment, before it takes to the hills again.Recently restored and offered without reserve, this fast little bike-engined, hill climb car will offer relatively affordable access to many competitive Hill Climb events across the country and a really fun community of great racers.SpecificationMake: PILBEAMModel: MP62/82Year: 1992Chassis Number: MP62004Registration Number: UNREGISTEREDTransmission: ManualMake: Interior Colour: BlackClick here for more details and images

One family ownership since virtually new . Totally standard and as it left the factory . Always been kept in a garage . Blaupunkt audio system . Offered with original book pack including service book Outside The Silver paintwork is in fair overall condition though there are a few areas of minor damage , namely on the offside front spoiler , near side rear wing and spoiler and a few stone chips to the bonnet area. The wheel trims are in good order and there is plenty of tread to the tyres. Inside The interior is totally original and there are no rips or tears to the seating area, door cards or headlining. The carpets and in good order and have been protected by rubber over mats all through the current ownership. The dashboard is without damage though the gear lever gaiter is well worn. Mechanicals The 1200cc engine fires into life instantly and quickly settles down to a smooth idle. On the road the Corsa drives as it should with good brakes, suspension, steering and smooth gear changes. History There is a full Vauxhall book pack, some old mot certificates and some service invoices dating back until 2004. Our Opinion This Corsa has been with the same family since just a year old and has been garaged all though the ownership. Apart from a few small paint issues, it is in really nice overall condition. This car is an ideal entry to the increasingly popular Hagerty Festival of the unexceptional or of course just an economical daily driver.
