A Majolica Hanging Planter. The round bowl centred by a pendant finial composed of a bundle of stalks radiating a rosette of fanned green leaves and deep pink glazed hibiscus; their trumpet blooms flaring out to the rim and displayed against a turquoise glazed ground. Suspended on three chains and measuring 11 ins (28 cms) in diameter.
By order of the Executors of the late Sir Edward Tomkins, removed from Winslow Hall. A 19th century Chinese famille verte planter, the rounded sides of the exterior painted with bird and beast reserves on a blue ground, the interior with five iron red carp swimming amongst weed, 46cm (18in) diameter. Provenance: Constantine Benson, The Hall, Shawford Park, Hampshire, Thence by descent to his daughter, the late Lady Tomkins
A commemorative slipware jug and cover in the form of an owl, the body inscribed 'The Queen's Silver Jubilee 1977' flanked by a lion and a unicorn, the removable cup cover with eyes and a beak, a loop handle to the reverse, together with a similar two handled slipware planter similarly commemorating the Silver Jubilee, both unmarked.
