A Victorian walnut dressing chest with mirrored super structure above two short over two long drawers to plinth base, together with a mahogany and inlaid dressing table, an oval mirror and assortment of drawers on square section tapering legs to castors CONDITION REPORTS Dressing chest approx 121 cm high and the base is approx 86 cm off the floor and the mirrored super structure is approx 98 cm high off the base - the total height is 184 cm. Various scratches, scuffs, marks throughout. Left hand top drawer has white paint type mark, mirror needs attention as does the rest of the super structure - very loose and wobbly and the glass has black speckles inside and very marks, impressed marks, scratches, scuffs, dark marks etc throughout. The dressing table has various scratches, scuffs, marks, impressed marks etc throughout. There is a break to the frame of the mirror and damage to the super structure, missing sections. Approx 112 cm wide, 170 cm total height

A George V ivory dressing table set of seven pieces comprising three brushes, mirror, dressing table box and two dressing table scent bottles with silver mounts (London, 1937), each piece bearing white metal initials "SIB" CONDITION REPORTS One dressing table bottle has a broken neck and the bottle lid is stuck within the ivory and silver mounted cap. both bottles are dirty and in need of a good clean, have some small chips to the cut glass. The joints on the square box are coming away although solid. One of the two unhandled brushes has an ivory "pin" missing and some splits to the top. The brush inscribed "A S B" has large splits running all the way through and one "pin" missing to the top. There are various bristles etc missing from the brushes. All items have general wear and tear, some discolouration and minor chips/wear to the edges - see images for further details.

Literature: Wendy Evans, Catherine Ross and Alex Werner, Whitefriars Glass: James Powell & Sons of London, Museum of London, 1995, p.264, pl.386 which shows an illustration of this mirror from an 1870s catalogue. A similar but slightly more elaborate mirror can be seen hanging in the Whitefriars showroom in Tudor Street, p.104, pl.112.

Condition commensurate with age,The mirror plate in our opinion is original.
