A Chinese 19th Century Qing Dynasty Ancestral Watercolour Painting, boldly coloured and finely illustrated. The painting reflects several generations of the family, depicted seated wearing richly coloured silk robes. The senior members of the family seated near the back of the painting and the younger members near the front, females members of the left and male on the right each with their own unique features and character. The figures are painted within an interior room setting seated before an altar table. Chinese character marks to the mirror centered at the altar table, approx 90 x 152 cms, originally from the Fuzhou Province.

Lauren Bacall, born Betty Joan Perske; September 16, 1924 - August 12, 2014) was an American actress and singer known for her distinctive voice and sultry looks. She was named the 20th greatest female star of classic Hollywood cinema by the American Film Institute and received an Academy Honorary Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2009, in recognition of her central place in the Golden Age of motion pictures. Bacall began her career as a model, before making her debut as a leading lady with Humphrey Bogart in the film To Have and Have Not in 1944. She continued in the film noir genre with appearances with Bogart in The Big Sleep (1946), Dark Passage (1947), and Key Largo (1948), and starred in the romantic comedies How to Marry a Millionaire (1953) with Marilyn Monroe and Betty Grable, as well as Designing Woman (1957) with Gregory Peck. She co-starred with John Wayne in his final film, The Shootist (1976), by Wayne's personal request. Bacall also worked on Broadway in musicals, earning Tony Awards for Applause (1970) and Woman of the Year (1981). Her performance in The Mirror Has Two Faces (1996) earned her a Golden Globe Award and an Academy Award nomination. Bacall died in New York City after a stroke, a month before her 90th birthday. Victorian silver and cut glass matched part dressing table set, comprising 3 square glass bottles, 3 faceted cylindrical glass jars, 2 small cylindrical jars, 2 rectangular glass boxes, a glass box with hinged lid and screw fastening, all glass containerswith star cut decoration to base and engine turned decoration to silver tops, all silver components stamped with marks for ‘George Brace, London, 1879’ also containing small pair of silver scissors and shaving razor stamped ‘Butler’s keeno razor’, contained within a black leather travel case with detachable mirror inset to lid, and a draw compartment. Condition Report: Overall good, note that not all componants of this set are present, no cracking or damage to glass containers, rusting and genera wear to scisors and razor, general wear and tear to leather box and lining consistant with age and use.
Late 19th century gesso framed over mantel mirror, the arched frame with moulded beadwork embellishments, glass possibly of a later date, width 130cm (51"), height 155cm (61"). Condition report: Original old frame, however back boards appear to be later suggesting that the mirror may have been replaced.
