A late 19th century French gilt and composition overmantel mirror, with an arched plate within a beaded slip and a leaf scroll outer border, with a ribbon tied surmount of flowers and a quiver of arrows, 163.6cm high, 125.5cm wide. Provenance: Property from a deceased estate in Richmond, London.
A George III mahogany gentleman's washstand, inlaid with stringing, the twin hinged top revealing an interior fitted with a blue and white pearlware washbowl and other appertures, with a pull-up adjustable mirror, the base with a drawer, with side carrying handles, 86.6cm high, 50.9cm wide, 51.2cm deep. Provenance: Ballington Manor, Wylye, Wiltshire.
An important George II giltwood and carton pierre wall mirror in the manner of Matthias Lock and John Linnell, the shaped plate within a rocaille and column frame, with carved leaf branches supporting brackets for porcelain vases or figures, with rockwork and trellis decoration, the top with a serpentine balustrade surmounted by a Chinaman seated under a leaf canopy and hung with bells and flanked by exotic birds, the base with pierced fencing and a central canopy supported by columns, c.1755-60, 189 x 112cm. This mirror with its overtly Chinese inspired decoration takes its design cues from some of the most celebrated mirror designers of the mid-18th century including Matthias Lock, Thomas Johnson and John Linnell. For example see designs by Matthias Lock from 'A New Book of Ornaments for Looking Glass Frames' c.1752 for the designs employing the trellis motif and for a Chinaman seated under a leafy canopy. An early 18th century style japanned bureau bookcase, all over decorated with chinoiserie, including figures, flowers, pagodas and boats, all on a yellow ground, the double domed top with a pair of bevelled mirror doors, enclosing two shelves, above a hinged fall, fitted with green painted pigeon holes and drawers, around a central cupboard door with secret pilaster compartments, the base fitted with two short and three long drawers, 205.5cm high, 95cm wide, 52.5cm deep.

A William IV lacquered brass compound monocular microscope by Andrew Pritchard, the tripod foot signed 'A. Pritchard, 18 Picket St. London', with rack and pinion focusing and a convex mirror, fitted in a mahogany case, with five drawers containing lenses and accessories, with a paper trade label for Pallant Optician' and a trade label for Andrew Pritchard 'The Natural History of Animalcules', 29cm high, 28.7cm wide.
