A MIRROR-BACK HALF MODEL FOR THE S.S. EMPRESS OF JAPAN AS FITTED AS AN ARMED MERCHANT CRUISER, CIRCA 1914 possibly by Triggs Maritime Architechts, hull carved from the solid and with white painted topsides, scored decks with wood and metal fittings, including bow and stern armament, twin raked funnels, mounted on a mirror with wooden frame -- 7½ x 28½in. (19 x 72cm.)Condition report: Some lose fittings including bridge, dusk, hull paint slightly faded, brass fittings oxidised, model removed from original case, witness marks to hull where supports are used.
A BUILDER’S MIRROR-BACK HALF MODEL FOR THE S.S. SEA VALOUR BUILT BY S.P. AUSTIN & SON, SUNDERLAND, FOR THE DOVER NAVIGATION CO. LTD, 1930 the carved hull with bilge keel, lowered companionway and white painted propeller with lined rudder, red painted deck with white lined hatch covers and painted wood and metal fittings as appropriate, cutaway masts and funnel, fitted open boat in davits, bridge with binnacle over, telegraphs and other details, mounted on front-silvered mirror within glazed case with angled bow/stern mirrors and ivorine builder's plate --14½ x 47in. (37 x 119.5cm.)Footnote: S.S. Sea Valour was built by S.P. Austin & Son, Sunderland in 1930 for the Dover Nav. Co. Ltd. and registered 1950 tons. She was bought by the D/S Alf Lindos, Rederi Haugesund Norway in 1946 and renamed Skoghaug. In 1947, on her way from Rotterdam to Oslo carrying a cargo of coals, she sank after an explosion in stormy weather. Of the crew of 27, only one survived. After a diver's examination, it was found that the explosion was caused by an exploding boiler, and not a stray mine as had been suspected.Condition report: paint crazed with some bubbling to black top sides, one or two areas of filling. Mirrors in good condition. Some modest wear to case moulding.

(46cm.) high overallCondition report: modest shrinkage to main scale, vernier cracked with ragged edge, T-bar lacking pencil, note plate missing, mirror and lens assembly with 5½in. crack through shade and mirror assembly
THE WHO A vintage signed colour 6.5 x 7 magazine photograph (removed from an edition of Record Mirror) by John Entwistle and Pete Townshend individually, the image depicting them standing in full length poses alongside Roger Daltrey and Keith Moon. Together with an unusual vintage signature by Roger Daltrey (‘Best wishes from The Who, Roger Daltrey’) to the verso of a typed list of individuals (including Daltrey) due to appear in court. Obtained in person by a local newspaper journalist and with his pencil annotations explaining that Daltrey appeared in court in Luton, Bedfordshire in 1969 charged with a series of minor motoring offences and that he was ‘besieged’ by autograph hunters and that ‘even the Police prosecutor and Chairwoman of Magistrates asked for his signature’. Some light folds and minor age wear.

In this lot are two original sketches depicting Bob Marley, created by Bush in 1978 and used for the cover of Record Mirror. One cover mock up (30 x 38.5cm) and one early sketch with annotations (42 x 30cm).
