Lot 1849

A 19th century sofa group, probably an early Meissen pull of the remodelled version of the figure originally produced by Kaendler in 1739. The lady plays the lute, cavalier the flute and a pug sits between them. The couple shown here are Johann Adolf Hasse, 1699-1783 musical director to the Dresden court and his wife, the singer Faustina Bordoni. Breakage and repair to the man's cane and to one braid of the lady's hair. Early impressed mark W65, incised 44 and marked Ku in red. 6'' tall x 9'' wide
