A 17thC tent-stitch Embroidered Picture, depicting a courting couple among oak trees, flowers and insects being serenaded by two musicians: a female lute player and a male cornett player, below a Unicorn, a Hound and a Falcon, colours slightly faded commensurate with age, threads worn in Unicorn body, head of courting lady, cornett player's hat and shoes and central tree trunk, loose threads by falcon, 6in x 10½in (15cm x 27cm), within a modern frame.

17th Century Roman School/Young Man Playing a Lute by Candlelight/oil on canvas, 71cm x 62cm/Provenance: The Arcade Gallery, London 1965; K R Bernard-Smith Collection, New South Wales, Australia/see illustration CONDITION REPORT: Relined. There are no obvious signs of restoration under UV light, but with naked eye would appear to be some restoration to the background on the left and the left side of the face. Otherwise it is in good condition. The stretcher appears to be 18th/19th century, ebonised and gilt frame 16th/17th century with restoration.
Rotary dialer decorated porcelain device, depicting a musician.An antique upright black metal produced ca. 1918 for Rikstelefon, the telephone network for Televerket, the Swedish agency responsible for telecommunications starting in 1853. The word Rikstelefonen means that the telephone could connect between cities (i.e. long-distance). On the rotary dialer is a hand decorated porcelain device, depicting a musician playing a lute for a young maiden holding a bouquet of flowers. It is signed Fragonard, after Jean-Honore Fragonard (1732-1806), French Rococo artist and printmaker who produced more than 550 paintings distinguished by their exuberance and hedonism. Original black Bakelite and chrome receiver. On each side is the manufacturer stamp gilt stenciled RIKSTELEFONEN alternating with lion shields. The Rikstelefon network was supplied with telephones produced by Ericsson. Issued: c. 1918 Dimensions: 9"H Country of Origin: Sweden Condition: Fraying to original cord. Age related wear. Untested

Attributed to Giovanni Battista Lenardi (17th/18th century) - Figures in a classical garden, a lady holding a mandolin or lute in the foreground with trees and mountains beyond, inscribed by a later hand verso with the name Johe Baptista Lenardi, also bearing a fragment of the original canvas pinned to the new stretcher and a further old inscription on a label attached to the frame, oil on canvas, 20" x 25.5" - **Provenance purchased by Captain Price 57 years old £40 on Monday November 20th 1848, said to have been purchased out of an Irish castle near Dublin
A Mid to Third Quarter 18th Century White Mother-of-Pearl and Tortoiseshell Fan, French, the heavy mother-of-pearl guards carved and gilded, the upper sections with a figure and trophies of love, the gorge sticks in pairs, the mother-of-pearl alternating with thin tortoiseshell. The gorge is elaborately gilded in different shades of gold, and carved with figures and flowers, urns and musical instruments. The double paper leaf depicts a countryside gathering, two young men vying for the attentions of shepherdesses with their flocks, a young boy to the side gathering berries. The verso, painted more simply, shows a lute player. Guard length 10.5 inches or 27cm. Provenance: the Lucien Duchet collection. Bears the tiny number which is rubbed but may be 52. In good order, the gilding shiny, the leaf colourful.
Creation LG: A Contemporary and Unique Fan, by the Master Fan Maker, and award winning Sylvain le Guen, signed and dated 2006. The wooden monture is mounted with turquoise organdie, the upper guard and leaf panels in the shape of a long lute. Shaped head. Each panel is in relief both to the recto and verso. Guard length 11 inches or 28cm. Very good, clean, nothing to note.
A Renaissance eight course lute, mid-20th century, signed with initials AM below the neck, with strung maple bowl back, ebony fretboard with thirteen frets, spruce top with ebony edge stringing and pierced fretwork to the soundhole, 32½in. (82.5cm.) long overall, with case. *Condition: Dent to spruce top just below and to right of sound hole. Small scratch to right edge of top and three tiny nicks below bridge. Several small, light scratches to back. Two tiny dings to surface of wood to head. Requires restringing. Case poor with rust to metal parts and some rexine covering loose or lifting.
