The cover further part mark on the side above the hinge. The marks underneath is clear while there is some wear to the marks on the cover, though they are still legible. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The inscription reads '1937 Presented to James Frederick Nathaniel Lawrence Esquire by the Staff of Mess'rs Lawrence, Graham and Co. on his Retirement as a mark of their affectionate regards.'
