1967 Jaguar E-Type Series I 2+2 Fixedhead Coupé Transmission: manualMileage:67428Launched at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show, the Jaguar E-Type was nothing short of a revelation. With its heady blend of supercar performance, breathtaking styling and low price tag, the newcomer left rivals reeling and customers clamouring. Early sportscar racing success at the hands of Graham Hill and Roy Salvadori amongst others helped cement its reputation. Built as a monocoque with a front sub-frame to cradle the engine, the model's combination of all-round independent suspension, rack and pinion steering and four-wheel disc brakes gave it excellent road holding and handling capabilities. The Jaguar E-Type Series I 2+2 was designed to be a more practical version of the legendary E-Type, with a longer wheelbase and additional interior space. It was produced from 1966 to 1967, and it featured a 4.2 litre inline-six engine that produced 265 horsepower. One of the most notable features of the Jaguar E-Type Series I 2+2 is its sleek and timeless design. The car has a long, flowing hood and a low-slung profile that gives it a sense of speed and power. The body of the car is made of lightweight aluminium, which helps to reduce its overall weight and improve its performance. This example presented in a shade of British racing green was first registered in 1967 and shipped to the US in Green where we believe it spent most of its live bathing in the California sun. Imported in 1991 the car was subject to a full body restoration and conversion to right hand drive in 1996/97. The car was stripped to the chassis, had the 4.2 litre engine fully rebuilt and was fully retrimmed to a very high standards all of which can be seen in a workbook of photos detailing the start through to the finish. Now red the car has remained continuously on the road but in 2007 it was decided a colour change was desired by the then owner back to its original colour, after consideration the red coachwork which was looking tired was changed to a deep shade of British Racing Green a colour that suits the car well and softens the lines of the more practical 2+2 body. Practicality was a reason for our vendors purchase in 2020, at 6ft 6 his desire for a series I E-type had to be matched by the body that allowed him to fit in€¦. the 2+2 is perfect for this accommodating the taller gentleman or lady and thus enabling a dream purchase to come true. Since his purchase the car has been in his words a fabulous drivers example and maintained regardless of cost while sat next to his Alvis. Maintained by Frampton Garage the car has recently had a new fuel tank and just a few years ago gad a new clutch and flywheel, starter motor and a new electronic fuel pump, it has also just been treated for a new owners confidence to an MoT certificate. Offered with a photographic restoration booklet, countless invoices and recent invoices and MoT's coupled to the V5 registration document. A true drivers car, practical especially for those taller but equally with more space will carry four comfortably and has that desirable series 1 design coupled to the 4.2 litre engine. An older restoration that is in very good usable condition, presenting well this is a get in and drive car€¦.so get in and drive! Consignor Mathew PriddyInterested parties should note that this example is an Original California car converted to a manual right hand drive example.

Li's bottles are among the finest of the low-relief works of the school he headed, believed to have been at Yangzhou, and this superb example is no exception. Dated Yangzhou bottles are rather rare, but have been recorded with dates between 1819 and 1822.Inscriptions: To one side on the shoulder, dated to the Year of Renwu (corresponding to 1822), and to the other side with the seal ‘Zhengye’ (good luck).Of flattened spherical form, finely carved through the ruby-red outer layer to the milky-white ground to one side with two boys stirring a pot, above scattered sprigs, a tea kettle, and a cup, below an inscription on the shoulder giving the cyclical date, the reverse with a boy holding up a branch and kneeling beside a recumbent water-buffalo pulling a tethered melon, with butterflies hovering above and a seal Zhengye, the shoulders carved with fruiting double-gourd sprays.Provenance: Collection of Margaret Polak, California, USA. Robert Kleiner & Co. Ltd., London, United Kingdom, 2007. A private collection in the United Kingdom, acquired from the above. A copy of the original invoice from Robert Kleiner & Co. Ltd., dated 2 July 2007, confirming the attribution to Li Junting above, and stating a purchase price for the present lot of GBP 5,500 or approx. EUR 13,000 (converted and adjusted for inflation at the time of writing), accompanies this lot. Margaret Polak was a passionate collector of Chinese snuff bottles. She wrote articles for the Journal of the ICSBS, and part of her collection was exhibited at the Art Gallery of New South Wales in 1991. In 2006, she gifted parts of her extensive snuff bottle collection to the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco. Robert Kleiner (1948-2014) was an important expert of Chinese snuff bottles, beginning his long career at Sotheby’s in London. Along with Hugh Moss and Bob Hall, he became a key advisor to the Mary and George Bloch collection, and it was Robert who wrote and produced the very first catalog of their bottles.Condition: Pristine condition with only minor wear and minuscule manufacturing irregularities.Stopper: JasperWeight: 23.7 gDimensions: Height incl. stopper 62 mm, Diameter neck 13 mm and mouth 7 mmLiterature comparison: Compare a closely related snuff bottle attributed to Li Junting, illustrated in Hugh Moss, Victor Graham, and Ka Bo Tsang, A Treasury of Chinese Snuff Bottles: The Mary and George Bloch Collection, vol. 5, Glass, no. 1035. Compare two snuff bottles attributed to Li Junting from the J & J Collection, nos. 402 and 403, illustrated by Moss, Graham, and Tsang in The Art of the Chinese Snuff Bottle. Note the size (59 mm) and the slightly different colors, not allowing as much sunlight passing through the bottle as the present lot.Update 25.9.2023: A noted expert and colleague has informed us that Li Junting in fact is a patron, one of two brothers, and not a carver as once thought. The dating of this bottle may also be 1882.

A CAMEO AGATE ‘HUANG CHENGYAN’ SNUFF BOTTLE, ATTRIBUTED TO THE CAMEO INK-PLAY MASTER, OFFICIAL SCHOOL, POSSIBLY IMPERIALPlease note this Lot is to be sold at No Reserve. 本拍品不設底價Expert’s note: The work of the artistic genius ‘Cameo Ink-play Master’ is analyzed and discussed in detail by Hugh Moss, Victor Graham, and Ka Bo Tsang in A Treasury of Chinese Snuff Bottles: The Mary and George Bloch Collection, volume 2, numbers 319-325. With the aid of these examples, it becomes quite clear that a single hand is at work, as the group exhibits stylistic motifs which are highly individualistic and do not appear on most cameo agate-style bottles. All these characteristics are apparent on the present bottle. It is remarkably well hollowed and polished on the exterior to a magnificent gloss. There is a whitish inclusion on the front which is skillfully used to depict the face. All areas of colored material have been incorporated into the design. Other areas of the design are carved directly onto the colorless ground. Two signature motifs are present in the current snuff bottle: the single brown prunus blossom (see ibidem, number 319), and the use of a horizontal band of color near the neck to depict part of a branch in the manner of a brushstroke (see ibidem, number 325). China, Beijing, 1770-1860. Of ovoid shape supported on a well-carved foot rim, finely carved to the front with Huang Chenyen riding a donkey, followed by a boy attendant carrying a spray of prunus. The reverse carved with a bird swooping towards a prunus branch, with a smaller spray on the neck.Provenance: Robert Kleiner & Co. Ltd., London, United Kingdom, 2002. A private collection in the United Kingdom, acquired from the above. A copy of the original invoice from Robert Kleiner & Co. Ltd., dated 25 November 2002, describing the present lot as a chalcedony snuff bottle, confirming the attribution to the Cameo Ink-play Master and the dating above, and stating a purchase price for the present lot of GBP 6,000 or approx. He first appeared in Chapter 37 when Liu Bei, Guan Yu and Zhang Fei were visiting the house of Zhuge Liang, a chancellor and regent of the state of Shu Han who married Huang’s daughter. He appeared then again in Chapter 84 after the Battle of Xiaoting, in which he led Lu Xun out of Zhuge Liang's Stone Sentinel Maze.Auction result comparison: Type: Closely related Auction: Bonhams Hong Kong, 28 November 2011, lot 11 Price: HKD 644,000 or approx.
