A South East Asian cinnabar lacquered box and cover, 19th century, the exterior gilt decorated with semi precious stones and mirrors, and carved with stylised animals, height 12.5cm, width 41.5cm, depth 26.7cm. Condition report: Some stones are missing from all sides of box and lid but generally in fair condition. Some rubbing to the gilt. One area to corner of lid is missing gilding and stones.
A Chinese cinnabar red lacquered box, the hinged cover with an archer on horseback being pursued by two swordsmen, the sides foliate decorated, the black lacquered interior with twin compartments, height 6cm, width 12.5cm, depth 9.2cm. Condition report: Some small areas have lacquer missing. Hinge works fine but slightly bent. Box generally in good condition. Needs cleaning.
A pair of Chinese applique panels, 20th century, each with carved jade and soapstone vase with flowers above a recumbent deer with Lingzhi Buddhist wheel and carved bone peach, pomegranate and Buddha fingers (citrus fruit) upon an ebonised stand, all against a black lacquer ground and within a Cinnabar lacquer frame carved with Lingzhi, lotus, prunus and bamboo and cast metal suspension bracket, 100.5 cm x 34.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Both panels are in very good condition throughout with no obvious chips, cracks or losses. However, one panel does have a small lacquer chip to the rear approximately 2 cm long above which is a 14 cm fine scratch. The panel with the scratch at the rear has a very small indent to the top right hand corner of the frame.
A large Chinese 19th century rouleau shape baluster cinnabar lacquer vase, on both sides having a large circular panel of leisurely figural scenes in a foresty garden landscape surrounded by Greek key link and external moulded lotus flower emblems, the top half of the neck having tree branch, life, and Hindu peace symbols. (Height 46.5 cm), bearing an engraved six character Ming Wanli mark to the body of the vase. CONDITION; 10cm long x 2.5cm deep fracture to lip of vase (repaired), both pictorial panels with hairlines (see images)

FIVE CHINESE SNUFF BOTTLES 19TH CENTURY Two ceramic, one plain green, one moulded with figures, two agate, one with a lion dog, the other with a fisherman and a tiger, the fifth in cinnabar lacquer with figures in sampans and pavilions, 8.5cm. (5) Provenance: from the collection of Professor J Norman Collie, FRS (1859-1942) and thence by descent.
RARE CARVED CINNABAR LACQUER 'DRAGON' BOX AND COVER QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795) The top is delicately carved with a ferocious, five clawed frontal dragon, writhing sinuously around a central flaming pearl amongst dense scrolling clouds, its scales and mane meticulously detailed, encircled by two pairs of confronting dragons among cloud scrolls in pursuit of flaming pearls, between two keyfret bands. The box similarly carved with four further dragons between two keyfret bands at the foot and rim, all reserved on a ground of turbulent waves, the interior and base lacquered blackBoxes of this type are rare. A closely related example was in London Sotheby’s ,17th December 1996, lot 207. See also a box of this size, carved with a side-facing dragon amongst waves, from the collection of Dorothy and James E. Hahn, in the Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto, illustrated in The T.T. Tsui Galleries of Chinese Art, Toronto, 1996, pl. 126; another decorated with a dragon carrying an auspicious character, from the Qing Court collection and still in Beijing, illustrated in The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum.
