A mid 19th Century Killarney fold over rectangular games table, probably by James Egan (1799-1842), constructed in yew, cherry wood, arbutus and bog oak, the swivel top is inlaid with a scene of Muckross Abbey flanked by two large fern leaves within geometric bands and foliate border, opening to reveal a chess, backgammon and cribbage board and two further panels depicting an Abbey ruins and a cottage, on conforming frieze and square tapering legs, height 78cm x depth 43cm x width 79cm. Provenance - It has been in the vendor's possession for many years. It is similar to a design once owned by Queen Victoria, held in the Royal Collection Trust.

A Victorian walnut combined sewing table/games table with flip over turning top to reveal chess and backgammon playing, inlaid surface above single cotton and pin drawer with decorative inlay above pull out wool compartment, standing on turned supports cabriole legs, 64cm length x 40cm width x 70cm height, condition - very good, few scratches to top, some inlay missing to drawer and lock needs slight attention.
A 19th Century games box with chess board to base and backgammon to interior 34.6 cm square x 6.5 cm high CONDITION REPORTS PLEASE NOTE Not Killarney as previously stated in the catalogue.The top has been stained and discoloured. Has a slightly domed effect to the centre. Splits variously throughout and along the edges of the central inlaid panel to the top. Inside has split and fading throughout. There are pin holes to the front but no handles and signs of old worm to the back. There is also a chunk missing to the front edges as though it has been caught many times when being opened - appears to have been prised open. General wear and tear conducive with age and use and from manufacture. See images for further detail.
